Hidden Key Guide
Traditionally, the Devil May Cry series has been augmented with a set of challenges called Secret Missions. Previously, these Secret Missions are hidden through-out the game environment and require a thorough investigation in order to find them all. Oftentimes, players discovered the Secret Missions by accident rather than purposely. The new and improved DmC: Devil May Cry still includes the Secret Missions. However, they can be identified by large, shiny, metallic doors. This makes them more than easy to spot, but the catch is that you need a key to unlock the door. Some argue whether this is more difficult or not, but you are going to need to find the Keys if you plan on completing the Secret Missions. Without locating the Hidden Keys, there are at least 5 Achievements that you will not be able to unlock. Here is a brief list of the Hidden Key Locations.
The Hidden Keys throughout DmC fall into one of four classifications: Copper, Argent, Gold, and Ivory. Copper Hidden Keys are the most commonly found key and result in an easier Secret Mission. There are fewer Argent, Gold, and Ivory Hidden Keys and result in more difficult Secret Missions. Each door will require a specific type of Hidden Key in order to unlock it.
Hidden Key #1:
The first hidden key is a Copper Key located in Mission 1. The key is located shortly after you acquire Ebony and Ivory. Look for a floating platform past a light post in order to find this Copper Key
Hidden Key #2:
In Mission 2, there are two keys you can uncover. The first is a Copper Key. Once you reach the large room with the impressive stairs leading the lead left and right. Walk forward and take the stairs towards the right. At the top of the stairs, look towards your right again and continue down that path. There should be a small room visible containing the Copper Key.
Hidden Key #3:
The third Hidden Key is a Argent Key. It is located in Mission 2, after you drop down into the hole revealed by the moving hallway. Look on the ground for a red gem that should be broken with Eryx. Smash the gem to reveal the Argent Key.
Hidden Key #4:
After this first battle in Mission 3, follow the path towards where Kat leads you. After the cutscene plays and the ground breaks away, look towards your left. You should see a Divinity Statue inside a doorway. Walk towards the Divinity Statue and use Eryx to break the red wall. Climb to the top of the stairs and you should see a Copper Key.
Hidden Key #5:
In the beginning of Mission 4 rests a Argent Key. After you have eliminated the first camera, you’ll continue the stage and watch a scene where the ground breaks away. Follow the path towards you right, you’ll come to a fork. The right path of the fork will contain a graffiti wall with the pattern of a clown. Use Eryx to smash the clown back (there will be a red gem to smash). Walk all the way down the revealed path in order to find this Argent Key hiding towards your right.
Hidden Key #6:
Mission 4 also contains a Hidden Gold Key for you to locate. A little further past the Argent Key and you’ll encounter a group of enemies. In the center of the stage there should be a dried fountain that you can jump onto. Rotate your camera until you find a blue point to Angel Lift towards. Once you reach the platform, enter the doorway and follow the path in order to find this Gold Key.
Hidden Key #7:
The fifth Mission contains two more hidden keys. The first is located after an enemy encounter (should be a Tyrant). You’ll see this Copper Key behind a cage wall but it seems as if you can’t reach it now. Look towards the right of the cage in order to find some boxes that you can jump on. Hop onto the boxes and follow the tiny path, eventually you’ll fall down onto this Copper Key.
Hidden Key #8:
This Argent Key is one of the more difficult keys to locate. It is located once you enter the large chamber full of containers approximately mid-way through the stage. Travel towards the back of the stage and you’ll need to execute some double jumps in order to Angel Lift to a platform. From here, you should be able to follow the path to the highest platform in this area where the Argent Key is located.
Hidden Key #9:
This Copper Key is located in Mission 6. Just as Dante slides into the massive hallway in the beginning of the mission, turn around completely and you’ll find this key on a small ledge above the bottomless pit.
Hidden Key #10:
Mission 7 is a longer mission where several keys are hidden. The first key is a Copper Key located after you reach the second boost point in the stage. Turn towards your right and you will see a Blue Door. Use the Aquila in order to shred the door and you should be able to Angel Lift into the room to find this Copper Key.
Hidden Key #11:
Also located in Mission 7 is an Argent Key. After the first cutscene where you meet a demonic rat, turn to the left. You should be able to continue towards your left and Angel boost to reach a new platform. Follow the path forward in order to find this Argent Key.
Hidden Key #12:
After you kill your first Rage in Mission 7, look towards the top of the stage. You will find an Angel Lift point for you to grapple. Once on the platform, turn around and there should be a Copper Key waiting for you.
Hidden Key #13:
Mission 8 only contains one Argent key for you. After the big battle where you were able to blast enemies into the overhead train, head down the tunnel you came in. Eventually, you will spot of path on your right side. Cut through the blue doorway and continue down the pathway in order to find this Argent Key.
Hidden Key #14:
After you have received your Devil Trigger ability in Mission 9, you will find yourself in a blue room where demons appear. The key is hidden in a platform towards the top of the room. In order to reach the platform, you’ll need to launch enemies then Angel Lift yourself towards the enemy. Doing so should allow you to jump off the enemy and reach this Gold Key.
Hidden Key #15:
In Mission 11, there is a Copper Key waiting for you. After you have defeated all of the demons in the media room, exit the room and continue down the stairs. Follow this path until you descend a second staircase. At this point, go straight forward and there will be a Red door towards your right. You’ll need Eryx to smash through the door and find your Copper Key.
Hidden Key #16:
After the first transformation the club undergoes in Mission 13, turn around. Climb to the top of the platforms behind you and you should find an Angel Lift point towards your right. Pull yourself towards the floating platform in order to find this Gold Key.
Hidden Key #17:
There are two keys for you located in Mission 15, the first is a Copper Key. This key is found during the part where you are trying to prevent the car from crashing. Jump onto the key and then onto the containers that are in front of you. Towards your left, there will be more containers. Jump onto them and you’ll find this Copper Key.
Hidden Key #18:
During the portion of the stage where the car is about to crash into the subway, you’ll need to use Demon Pull in order to pull the bus right in front of you. Jump onto the bus and turn towards the left. Jump over the platform, and jump up the two shipping containers and there should be a Copper Key towards your left.
Hidden Key #19:
Although Mission 16 is quite a lengthy mission, there is only one key waiting for you. After you get out of the elevator on floor 105, turn towards the right and keep watching for an hallway behind the elevators. There will be debris in your way that you’ll need to jump through in order to reach this Gold Key.
Hidden Key #20:
After you deal with the first set of Demons in Mission 17, you’ll need to climb a few floating platforms and up to a twisted tree right of the ruins. Angel Lift and Boost across right past the tree towards another platform. You will find a blue doorway for you to cut through. On the other side you should find an Ivory Key.
Hidden Key #21:
In Mission 18, there is an Argent Key for you to find. Take the path immediately to the right of the large double doors. Once you reach the large pit in the middle of the floor look down. You should see a small ledge towards the left of the pit. Jump onto the pit and follow the path in order to find this Argent Key.
