Do you feel there should be a game that you can make your own video game with? Something that has an API that can show simple graphics and be able to be released in a certain section within the Xbox so other people can play it. Nothing tedious like typing code, but something simple that can easily make a game like Mario.

I don't know especially for a console this is a little far fetched. It's ridiculously hard to move a cursor on a Xbox and there would be extreme limits on what you could do. But if someone could pull that off efficiently than it would definetly be a success.

Gaming inception, lol!

I've wondered about this for many years, and I really like the idea of it! If I had the skillset to create something like this, i'd try to do it for sure. If someone released something like this I'd also buy it for sure!

If you want to make your own games, start learning how to code rather than hoping someone will make it accessible for you. Making gaming for apps on smartphones can't actually be easier these days. Go and download Unity and look up some tutorials. I've made a couple of little apps on my smartphone using it. Though what you described in the OP, you should look into Little Big Planet on the PS3, it's like making your own game sometimes.

I've thought about this a lot...I could see there being numerous challenges to get around and limitations, but if someone could successfully pull it off there'd be a lot of potential and probably a big market for it, too. It's a cool idea, if nothing else :).

I think some things should stay inside of a computer. If you're going to make games why make something simple like mario? There's no potential for sales or really any following / fans of a game that's been done a million times. They always try to incorporate things that belong on a computer into consoles like Music Maker for playstation (maybe it's on xbox too not sure), or video game design like the Kodu Game Lab (you can dload it in the xbox live marketplace for like 5 bucks, I think it's under indie games).

there was a "game" on steam that was something like that I think it was called like game maker studio or somthin like that

I agree, Little Big Planet for the PS3 is the closest that you could get I think. It allows you to create your own levels and share them online for your friends to play. Unfortunately, the game is owned by Sony. I'm curious about Unity though. What software is that? Is it free and can I use it on a smartphone?
