I've played a lot of car racing games from Forza to Need For Speed but I can only seem to get so good at the game. Would it benefit me if I got rid of the gamepad and used a steering wheel instead?

A proper steering wheel setup would definitely help and makes it more fun. I'm a gear head in real life and racing video games don't do it for me with a controller.

Yeah a steering wheel and pedals wold definitely help on most games, you can control the steering and throttle so much smoother... It's pretty much the same difference as trying to play with a dpad or the analogue sticks!

Be warned however, that you will probably find you are a lot worse when you first switch over!

I have noticed when using a steering wheel and pedals on any gaming system, rather than a controller, that I get confused easily. I have been driving for years, and I am used to the feel and handle of my own vehicle. When I get into my sports cars on need for speed, the wheel and pedals dont actually help me much because I cant seem to get used to the different feel and handles; especially when every car on the game has different handling. It could just be because i'm female and we cant drive anyways, but I really prefer the controller for racing games.
