I have no regrets with my Xbox One purchase, except for one: I bought my launch games on physical disk instead of digital download. I thought that would be fine.

Now that I've spent some time in the system, I really see the advantages to just being able to pop up a game and not have to worry about putting in the disk. I'm really regretting it. From here on out I am all digital. These games will be the last disks I own.

While I've yet to purchase the Xbox One, I can tell you that I don't regret going digital as well. It's nice as well to just downoad it, and then press the confirm button to play it. Same with the Vita and PC. Although yeah, I will have to upgrade the HDD of the XB1 when I get it 'cuz I'm the kind of gamer who just loves to get as many games as possible, so if I'm bored for one game in the meantime, I can quit it and play another one without a problem.

I cant believe since it has digital capable games, that once you install the game you would need the disk each time you want to swap. The very cool thing about it is to be able to jump effortlessly from item to item, game to game or game to tv.... Anyone think they will patch this to work as digital games do once you install the game disk? That does really seem silly. Since my xbox is a Christmas present to my kids, I have not installed it yet, but I did pick up 5 games already.... shame this is like this.... again... anyone think they can patch this and fix it????

Who knows? We don't know yet much about what Microsoft plans to do with gamers like us who will still go with disc-based games. Just like the PS4, disc-based games will still get installed on the HDD in cache form. We'll just have to wait and see if Microsoft will consider your suggestion. Until then, we gotta deal with it.

Being a gamer for a long time, I don't regret not going all digital. There are some games, for me, that I feel is better to be on-disc than to download. Sure, the convenience is there but it's also nice to hold and cuddle the little disc. Plus, the retail boxes are nice. And then there's the fact my internet connection isn't as fast as everybody else, that's why I don't regret not going all digital. There's a part of me that likes physical and a part of me that likes digital.

i am in that club..
with 3 games at launch and wanting to bounce between them it gets annoying popping in a disk. the xbl free games with gold spoiled me with downloaded games now its something i want. lol.

Not me, I am going to buy games on disc if they come that way.

They can be sold and traded, which I like to do and I really don't want to spend time downloading hundreds
of gigs depending on my provider and MS to be working all the time. I see reports on FB of games taking 8 hours
for some people to download. I know sometimes my Xfinity goes hit or miss on the weekends.

You also lose out on any preorder extras that a lot of places offer.

I agree, it would be better if installed from disc games would not require the disc in, but I really don't
see getting up moving 5-10' feet once in a while that much of a problem.

Well, I just bought Ryse online and the game is ready to play at 3% of the download! It took maybe 30 minutes. I wasn't a big believer in their play while you download system, but this works really well.

Well, that sounded too good to be true. It just lets you into the menu and then takes you to a status bar for the rest of the download/install :p

I find it annoying having to pop a disk in, my dad bought me bf4 for disk... only game I have on disk... sucks I have to keep popping it in, just gonna leave it in the disk drive since it is the only disk game I own.

I find that digital is so much convenient when switching between games and after a while when you have a lot of them, it makes it so much easier to find them. I have a habit of putting disks in the wrong cover so it takes a while to find them. That's why I bought digital games.

I guess one problem in the future is filling up the hard drive. 500 Gigs sounds like a lot, but in truth it isn't. I guess that is one reason I like the disc versions... you can uninstall and still have the game if you want to play again... it wont be taking up harddrive space. I know they will incorporate external drives, but we don't have it yet nor know how well it will work or if their will be issues. Why is the purpose of having to have the disc in? Does it install all files from the disc to the hard drive so you are taking up as much space as the digital download or does it read off the disc while you play and not install everything? Does anyone know? space between disc install and digital install?

its hard to tell honesty.. the big title games are 30+gb so it may be a full install but uses the disk as a key to the info. a bunch of the free games on 360 were int he 3-4g range and bigger games.. iirc halo was around 3.5gb..

i am curious to know about cloud gaming and what they off loaded on the servers..the games look great. and play great so far. the cloud/dedicated servers is one of those things we don't hear anything about now. i am sure its in use but im curious how its working.

that is one of the great things about the new systems... dissecting them and figuring out how they work and what they do... give it a few weeks and all the info will be out there and how to maximize its potential.....

The issue is really practical versus collectible. It's like with music. I prefer to have albums that I pop into a CD player. I like having music digitally stored but I've never bought an album completely digitally. It would feel like a waste of money if I couldn't hold it in my hands. I think I feel the same way with gaming, but I'm guessing I'll be humming a different tune when Steam Machine hits the stores.

I've already switched to buying digital for games with replay value to me...... anything I'll trade when done I'll buy on disk. For some reason the last 3 days I've found having to switch disks irritating. I never had a problem with their plan to start.... I just think they should have left that option open to people who wanted it

Worrying about putting in a disc is really a first world problem haha. Maybe I am old school, but I like having something tangible in my hands. Sure it takes up space and required that you switch in and out. Still, I don;t see myself switching to digital until physical purchases are no longer around.

Does the digital setup like steam does it for the PC? If you download a game, you can play it, but can you uninstall the game to free up hard drive space like in steam, yet still have the game since you own it.... like it greys out like in steam? I have never done anything digital for consoles before.... so this will be new to me... is that how it works?

From what I see, yeah, that's how it works. Well, wait, no.. no. In my experience with the PS3 and Vita, when you uninstall a game from your console if you bought digitally, you have to retrieve it again through your download list in PSN. But since you still own it, you can re-download it all over again. That's how it is when you go digital in the consoles. So you don't see the game grey out like Steam but you can still retrieve it again. Not sure how it's done in the Xbox One but I know that when you go digital, it's retrievable when you've bought it, like Steam. There's just no grey area.

...Is it really that serious? I mean maybe I'm weird, but when I pop in a game - that's it. I will paly that game until completion or at least through one full playthrough versus switching over and over and over again. Even if I did get bored or frustrated - I'd like to think I haven't got that lazy yet. It takes like fifteen seconds and I say that as someone who is... how to say? Disorganized to the extreme.

Also US internet is shoddy as hell - there are still place where high speed doesn't even exist, and what does exist doesn't necessarily reach the speeds needed to make digital download feasible. Though of course there will be people saying that gaming is a luxury and the haves shouldn't be punished because of the havenots... tch.
