After a few days binging on this game with my significant other, my immediate thought on Riptide is that it is basically an extension of the first game rather than a sequel, and that it is ultimately no better or worse than the first title. The gameplay is a stiff first-person Diablo clone, there are many glitches and bugs, (I experienced two game save corruptions, one costing me a huge amount of progress) and there is a decent amount of content. There's little in the way of compelling storytelling, but that's not exactly what they focused on. If you want Diablo in first person, Borderlands is your better option, but if you're looking for a first person Zombie RPG, I suppose this would be the best (perhaps only) option on the 360. It's a good game in some areas, mediocre in others, and I'm content with not playing it again having earned all of the achievements.

The game sounds extremely disappointing. Haven't picked it up yet, sounds like more Dead Island and to be honest I was sick and tired of Dead Island way before it was over.

Honestly, the first game is even better in some ways. For instance, movement feels extremely sluggish in Riptide, and the screamers are abominable; they're not difficult, but extremely annoying.
