Games nowadays seem to be sold entirely on hype. What I want to know is which games have had you excited and then completely came up short. The one that sticks out in my mind the most has to be Resident Evil 6, which stamped out any residual passion for the series I had after Resident Evil 4.

It is true that modern marketing strategies has adopted hyperbole so much. It is therefore not strange to see unmatched screen-shots of a game only to find it below average. I think that most of this has happened to me especially with PC games.

For me it would be the latest Gears of War: Judgment. I'm a big Gears guy, when this was first announced I felt bad because I wasn't excited as I felt it was "too soon". Then a couple of months ago I started getting excited for Judgment after reading up on it. Having purchased the game a few days ago, sad to say it's pretty disappointing. It has its moments, but I do regret paying full price for this title...

Ninja Gaiden III is a great example for me. Watered-down gameplay, quick-time events everywhere, lack of enemy variety, and not-so compelling boss fights. This game fails on two fronts: it alienates hardcore fans, and doesn't present newcomers any good reasons to be interested. Maybe Razor's Edge will redeem it, and since it's coming to the 360 and PS3 soon, I'll be willing to give the Itagaki-less Team Ninja another try.

When it comes to the biggest disappointments, I don't think I have much more to say other than Mass Effect 3. I'm sure many can agree. They really killed it.

The same for me here.
After playing Resident Evil 4, I thought RE5 was a complete disgrace.
Then they announced they were making a RE6 and I thought "well they will surely learn with their mistakes" - well they didn't. The game felt nothing like horror, it was just Call of Duty with weird camera angles and zombies.
And let's not talk about RE: Operation Raccoon City. I still can't believe someone would actually approve that game to be released.

I hate it when people diss the Mass Effect 3 ending after they released the fix. THEY FIXED IT, GET OVER IT.

Also, biggest disappointment for me was Duke Nukem. I started playing and I just went "What the hell is this?" I honestly thought it'd be best in comparison with the original.

Most games i play these days are boring and all the same.

I'm not as excited about the graphics and gameplay as i used to be back when i was younger. I guess it's because i weren't used to HD games at the time.

Dishonored is my biggest disappointment. I was expecting much more from it. I guess one really can't believe the hype. Or reviews. Screw "pro" reviewers.
