Introduction
Welcome to the Achievement Guide for Call of Duty 2, a classic World War II shooter. It is definitely one of the best games of its kind and a must play for anyone. Being released early in the life cycle of the Xbox 360, the achievements are not very creative, or that many for that matter. There are only 13 achievements that you can obtain, but do not think that it will be an easy task. To unlock them all, you basically have to play the whole campaign on Veteran (the hardest difficulty level) and there will definitely be times when you will want to throw your controller at the TV screen. However, with a bit of patience and planning (plus a bit of luck) it will not be that hard and you will add another 1000 G to your gamerscore.
Call of Duty 2 Achievements
Completed Training (50G)

Finished The Winter War on Veteran difficulty
This achievement is story related if you play on Veteran and it cannot be missed. Read the description of “War Hardened” for a few tips & tricks.

Veteran of El Alamein (60G)
Finished The Battle of El Alamein mission on Veteran difficulty
This achievement is story related if you play on Veteran and it cannot be missed. Read the description of “War Hardened” for a few tips & tricks.
The first mission in the British campaign throws you in the sandy Battle of El Alamein. It is a pretty long mission, consisting of 4 sub-missions, but it is not a very hard one. You will obtain this achievement as soon as you complete the last sub mission.
Veteran of The Tank Squadrons (60G)
Finished The Tank Squadrons mission on Veteran difficulty
This achievement is story related if you play on Veteran and it cannot be missed. Read the description of “War Hardened” for a few tips & tricks.
The second mission in the British campaign has you controlling a tank in two different sub-missions. Make sure you get accustomed with the controls of the tank and never turn your back to the enemy as you will die in one hit. Also, try and shoot the enemy tanks in the sides as they have the most armor on the front bit. The two sub-missions are not very long and you will unlock the achievement as soon as you finish the second one.
Veteran of Rommel's Last Stand (60G)

This is the third mission in the British campaign and it will be a bit longer than the last one, consisting of 3 sub-missions. Make sure you get to the end of the last one alive and the achievement is yours.
Veteran of The Battle for Caen (60G)
Finished The Battle for Caen mission on Veteran difficulty
This achievement is story related if you play on Veteran and it cannot be missed. Read the description of “War Hardened” for a few tips & tricks.
The last mission of the British campaign could prove a bit difficult and it is quite long as well, consisting of 4 sub-missions. Once you get through them, you will unlock the achievement and move to the final part of the game - the American campaign.
Veteran of D-Day (60G)
Finished D-Day mission on Veteran difficulty
This achievement is story related if you play on Veteran and it cannot be missed. Read the description of “War Hardened” for a few tips & tricks.
This is the first mission of the American campaign and if you have not landed on Normandy beach before (which is close to impossible) this is your chance. Consisting of 3 sub missions, it is arguably one of the hardest missions in the entire game. There will be a lot of areas with no cover and you will have in one case to wait for reinforcements while fending off waves of enemies. As soon as you finish the last sub mission, the achievement will unlock and you are off to Hill 400.
Veteran of Hill 400 (60G)
Finished Hill 400 mission on Veteran difficulty
This achievement is story related if you play on Veteran and it cannot be missed. Read the description of “War Hardened” for a few tips & tricks.
This is the second of the American campaign and it is probably only marginally easier than the previous one. It is also a bit shorter, consisting of only 3 sub mission that might pose some problems, but not too many. Once you finish the third one, you will unlock this achievement and you are on your way to the last mission of the game
Veteran of Crossing the Rhine (60G)
Finished Crossing the Rhine mission on Veteran difficulty
This achievement is story related if you play on Veteran and it cannot be missed. Read the description of “War Hardened” for a few tips & tricks.
This is the last mission in the American campaign and in the game. There is only one sub-mission but do not let that fool you, as it is a pretty difficult mission. It might get frustrating towards the end, but this is the last mission that you need to finish and you have completed the game.
Won the War (150G)
Finished the Single Player Campaign
This achievement is story related and it cannot be missed. Read the description of “War Hardened” for a few tips & tricks.
For this achievement, you will simply need to beat the game on any difficulty you chose. I recommend that you start playing on Veteran straight away so you do not have to play through the campaign twice, but this is obviously your choice. If you do not have a lot of experience with first person shooters it might actually help you to play on an easier difficulty first to get a feel of the game.
There are three campaigns in the game, which you will need to beat in order to finish it: the Russian one, the British one and the American one (in that order). Each campaign has 3 or 4 mission and each of them might have a few sub-missions:
The Russian Campaign
The Winter War
The British Campaign
The Battle of El Alamein
The American Campaign
D-Day
War Hardened (200G)
Finished the Single Player Campaign on Hardened of Veteran difficulty setting
This achievement is story related if you play on Veteran and it cannot be missed.
This is the hardest and longest achievement of the whole game. To unlock it you will need to finish the game on either the Hardened or Veteran difficulty, but as you will need to complete all the missions on Veteran for the other achievements, that is what you should aim for. Call of Duty 2 on Veteran can be very hard and frustrating even for the most skilled players. The only way I can try and help is by giving you a few tips that might come in handy during the game. Keep in mind that you will need to complete every sub-mission on Veteran (or Hardened) to unlock this achievement.
Veteran Difficulty tips
THE END
Those are all the achievements that you can unlock in Call of Duty 2. It will be a long road to obtaining all of them, but after you do, few other games will give you this satisfaction for finishing them.
Obviously, if you have any suggestions, feedback and critics or just want to ask me anything, feel free to post here or send me a PM and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you and Enjoy your Game!

Veteran Difficulty tips
- The most important thing you have to do to have a chance is always use cover. Without doing this, you won't stand a chance and you will die really quickly. Always keep an eye out for safe cover spots where you can hide if you get hit and if you are close do dying. When your screen is starting to get red, immediately hide behind the first object you see. Some of the hardest missions in the games are the ones where there is very little cover that you can use.
- Use you grenades effectively. If you see a few enemies grouped together in a small space, that is always a good place to use a frag grenade. Smoke grenades might not seem very helpful but if they are used right they can be incredibly helpful and help you pass some really difficult spots. Make sure you do not waste them because you will not find too many.
- Reload is important. When you reload, always do it behind cover. Also, make sure your weapon is always full before you get out of cover because storming an enemy position just to notice that your weapon ran out of ammo is incredibly frustrating.
- Take it easy. There is no rush, so plan your moves carefully and always have a plan before going forward. Make sure you do not find yourself too far ahead of your fellow soldier as this will in most cases be a certain death.
- Stay calm. I know just how frustrating the game can get, but trying to stay calm and trying again will always work better than getting worked up over it.
- Change your tactic. If you are really struggling on a certain mission, try a different route or try using a different weapon (or maybe more grenades) until you find a sweet spot and manage to pass that difficult spot.
- Lastly, have a break. If you are struggling on one mission and you tried all the strategies that you can think of, put the controller down for the day and try again after a good rest. You will be amazed how well this works!
THE END
