I mostly buy the disc version of games as eventually I get tired of a game and want to trade or sell it.

Is there some kind of code/serial number in the downloaded games that can also be sold?

Say I give the code to someone and once they activate it, mine would be deactivated or something
similar.

MSFT has hinted at it being something they're looking into, but I would imagine it's still a long way out.

I can't find any option on it. Well I think the reason why this feature cannot be enabled possibly because your own game will be deactivated since you are using the same code. This is a nice decision by Microsoft but well that's what sales is all about.

I hope we can trade or sell our games just like what they have in PS4. Well it's also okay to keep them as souvenirs if you get tired of playing them. I have a collection of games from the different consoles that I had for the past years.

For now, no, you can't sell or trade downloaded games. In fact, that's something that hasn't been explored fully yet last-gen or current-gen. It's a sticky situation so we'll need to wait and see.

Maybe in the future that will be a possibility but unless they can make a profit I don't see it happening with Microsoft or the publishers. It seems like there would be a lot of paperwork in order to make it happen but I don't think it can be ruled out. Just not right now.

Nah, not happening yet. Steam, PSN and other sites have not yet considered the option. If that were to happen now, people wouldn't be buying heavily on digital sites these days. Profits would lower so no way will they do that now.

This can't happen unless there's a good system to it. But I don't think it will happen anytime soon. I mean, if it did, it can cause lots and lots of issues. And yes, profits can be affected. That's why it's so easy with the discs.

True enough. We just have to wait and see what they have in store for us. They might have this available soon.

If they have the option to sell or trade games just like what PS4 has, Xbox One would be a lot better. I would love to trade games with others that way I can save up some money for things that matter more. I hope they can have this option soon enough to help us with our budget concerns. That way we have more options to get the games that we want more.

I would love to have that happen for Xbox One. That way it would be a lot easier to get games.

What are you talking about? If you're talking about trading or selling digital games, you can't do that on the PS4. It can only be done with discs. And the Xbox One already CAN do trade and sell with the discs. What you can't do at the moment is trading digitally. Digital is still locked to your account.

As for retail copies with downloaded codes... not sure about that.

The PS4 has the same exact options as the Xbox lol. Neither can sell or trade digital.

I don't see what sort of incentive trading digital copies would have for Microsoft of the game developers, just means less $ for them in the long run and for that very reason I wouldn't expect it to go through.

Yeah, I can agree with you on that. It's murky indeed to consider trading digital copies. Well, we'll see where it goes in the future.

Murky as it seems but I guess it's a good way of spreading the love for the console. If you finish a game and you want to try another one you can just trade with a friend. Well I hope that it will be possible soon.

You've got a point there, It would definitely mean less revenue for Microsoft. Well they could probably just put games on cloud instead and have them priced cheaper for downloads that way it'll be a lot easier to get and it would be more accessible. I live far off from the stores so if they can do that for all the games then that's good.

It would be because the users want the option. If I pay $60 for a disc I can sell and trade it, but if I pay $60 to
download it where they probably make even more $ as there is no disc, packaging, etc.... I can't.

What? If that's the case, I was mislead by a video that I just watched on youtube about it. It showcased the announcement of PS4 with the CEO saying that it's possible to trade the game with other people.
