I really couldn't care less about games on Facebook like Candy Crush, but I know a lot of people love them. I get invites to play them from almost everyone, almost everyday, so I was wondering if you guys think we'll eventually see those games on the Xbox One. I can't imagine Candy Crush (or the like) ever coming out with a disc version, but maybe an app or something? What do you think?

they will eventually when apps and arcade games start making it to market its bound to happen.

i would assume it will tie into the friends/social media aspect of xb1 i have yet to really think of how tho. how will they tailor it with kinect/controler play is a bigger hurdle than ios/android phone app.

the base of those free games is clicks and generally having a big enough core of players who continue to feed lives/help ect ect between each other... this will be a hard sell to consoles. the way they work now with a timeline or allotted time of play wont fly on consoles esiecially if you paly 5-10 dollars for the game.. i will have to be unlimited play.. same as the angry birds on xb1.

i hope it dosnt become a big aspect of the apps/developed games...

I think it would be hard to sell these games especially when they are on Xbox one. It's a lot better to have them on social media sites or maybe on your android device. Well it is because most gamers want the best games they can grab a hold of. Something out of the ordinary.

I can kind of see those types of games hitting Xbox One, but boy would they get annoying fast. You'll get several notifications of people either trying to get you to play or requesting...credits, tokens, turns, or whatever those games use.

As others have said, this kind of thing probably won't come out. It might come in a classic arcade pack, or something like the retro arcade thing that the 360 had. Games like that just won't sell unless they are in a bundle or are incredibly cheap, or simply free.

It might come into Xbox One, if it's done right. After all, why would you spend a $30 version of Angry Birds Star Wars when you can get it on the app market for almost half the price? But yeah, they might come but only in packages or in just cheap prices.

I haven't even considered buying Angry Birds: Star Wars, but it annoys me greatly that it exists on consoles. It's the thing that should not be, but there it is. It knows it shouldn't exist, but it just doesn't care.

in theory as long as its not micro managed(token or real money based) its nothing more than a filler/fun arcade game. without the free app tie down. ie: limited lives or being timed based upon dealth like it is on ios/android.

i could see these games selling for 4.99 on the game market and selling well. updates/bug would be few/far between and the only real updates would be levels.. iirc candy crush is up to 500 levels and 99% of the upgrades/updates up that number. and 70% of the people on the final level have never spent a dime on the game so in theory it could be done easily.

i am still not a fan and hope microsoft leaves the app development to bigger indie titles and such rather than "grind games" but lets say the developer of bejweled, candy crush and various other top teir ios/android free games packages it right microsoft may bite.

Yup, I wonder a lot. Why does it even exist on consoles? That game was perfect on the smartphones, but when you put it on the console with the same playtime and a higher price, it suddenly just has me wonder why it exists at all.

No way in hell will I play for a full priced retail on a game you can buy for $5. Why? Tell me, why? And also, with so many games to play like Battlefield, I don't think I'd have the time to even do the Angry Birds. Nope, no time at all.

Rovio mastered a triple dose of trolling with the size of the game of PS4/X1, the price of the game and people buying it, and ultimately nothing being different from the smartphone/tablet versions. I bet it goes for it again and shoot for quadruple trolling with Angry Birds Walking Dead.

If it sounds like money, walks like money, and smells like money Microsoft will take a huge bite out of it.

I didn't even think about how an app on a console would handle the whole, "You're out of lives; ask for more!" thing, but I could still see it coming as an Indie/arcade thing, especially since Angry Birds is on 360 now. It would be a great way for Candy Crush to actually make some money, especially since most of the FB gamers won't spend any money through Facebook to play it. Charge $3 or $5 to have the app on the One and "crush" to your heart's content on your big screen. ;)

That's true. Just charge it the same way they charge it on the smartphones. I kind of agree with marthy: why do you play the game that's charged higher on consoles than smartphones when they have the same playtime right? I wouldn't buying it on console as long as they don't charge it too high. It's the price of AAA or indie titles I play.

I know right? Jeez man. They should stay on smartphones. I honestly have no time to play games like those. smartphone games are meant for killing time on-the-go but when I see something like this on consoles, I'll just ignore it. I play consoles to have a good 1-2 hour time of immersing in a world. But to immerse myself in something like Angry Birds at home? Nope, nada.

Exactly. It makes no sense to have Angry Birds on a console. It's meant as a quick time sink, not for hours of play in one sitting. I mean there are people who will sit and play Angry Birds for hours, but c'mon, man...a console game with console game sizes wasn't called for. It honestly looks no different from the smartphone version, plays the same way, and nothing seems to be added.

It is the Star Wars editon and has been remastered with some new levels, a couple multiplayer modes, kinect play-ability without needing a controller and a few other things. I am not saying its worth $50, but I can see it selling some and I would think they did some research before investing time and resources into it.

So who was saying games like this would not sell and should not be made????

Sales are amazing for the 360 and other brands:

The Angry Birds Trilogy for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and 3DS has soared to 1 million in sales since launch in September, publisher Activision announced today. The $40 bundle includes Angry Birds, Angry Birds, and Angry Birds Rio, as well as other new features.

Activision also announced today that Angry Birds Trilogy is coming to Wii and Wii U in 2013. The Wii U version will feature "very intriguing" system-specific features, according to Rovio executive vice president of games Petri Järvilehto.

Whoa. Well, that took me by surprise. That honestly surprises me: I can't believe a game that started its life on smartphones can sell that much on consoles. Even with a rise in price, gamers on consoles and PC love to play the smartphone-based games. Either they don't have the smartphone or they just love the franchise to death.

Ahhhhh.... that's one factor: maybe these buyers don't have the smartphone. Maybe they're the type who have no time to play on the smartphone but are interested in playing the smartphone game nevertheless, so since there's a version for their chosen platform, they can play it. Hmmmm, I guess there's a place for smartphone-based games on consoles and PC then.

Really? Damn. Didn't see that coming. I always thought smartphone-based games on consoles wouldn't sell. But to suddenly see those kinds of sales reach up like that? Well, the market is truly dynamic. Truly.

Wow, didn't see it coming either. I guess it's, as some of you say, because the market is dynamic. Also, you're sparky: some gamers like me don't have a smartphone but we still have interest to play those games. Well, if that's how it is, that's how it is. Say what you will about the price but if gamers on PC and console are willing to chuck out more for the game that you could buy cheap on smartphones, than it really shows something about the market.
