Turtle Beach, Logitech and Razer offer some pretty high quality headsets for gaming, but they are generally more expensive than the music headphones on the market. What do you guys think of expensive headsets for the Xbox, is it worth the money? If you do have some, what are they like, do you always use them and why?

I don't think that those "official" headsets for consoles are worth the money. There are many good headsets that also work on the PC that do the job for the console too.

I personally don't like most of the headsets, why pay so much when the cheaper ones do the same things? Also, I hate them because most of them are so huge, I mean, is there a reason they need to be this big? I feel like it's actually weighing my head down. I understand that they are typically made for adult men but still.. I just use my PC headset because it works, it's not huge and it didn't cost me like crazy.

I like Logitech and don't like the Microsoft headsets. I think they lack padding and the wiring is so cheap that they die within a few uses. I have bought some generic weird brands on Amazon for $5 and they were great. e4city sells some great headsets for less.

I agree with BlackSolaris here. I have a Seinheisser headset that I always use for my PC, my consoles and everything.
The sound is far better than any other headsets I have ever tried.
Even better than Beats in my opinion.

Do a search for "OCN's Most Recommended Audio Products", it's the best guide out there for all things audio:

As it says, most headsets are garbage (especially the gaming branded ones) although it does recommend a few exceptions, including two by Sennheiser (PC 151 and PC 360).

Personally, I use a PC 360 for console gaming and a set of proper, expensive headphones (Ultrasone PRO series) plus a standing microphone for PC gaming. This allows me to get excellent music quality out of my PC headphones in addition to using them for gaming.

There is no such thing as "gaming" headsets. Gaming headsets are just an excuse for people to buy their products like Razer, Turtle Beach. I would recommend Beyerdynamics or Sennheisers. Their $30 headphones are much better than $100 gaming headsets.

I think that they are simply selling the brand name not the headsets themselves. I've come to know that so long an headset can do what those expensive sets do then I'll buy it. I can't spend on a name...:)
