Xbox One Crashed hard drive

I'm new to this group but I have a question that I hope someone can help with. So my external hard drive I use for my xbox one just took a shit on me and all the data that's on it comes up as a lost partition. I bought a recovery program. Now I need to recover all that data onto the new hard drive but its not coming up on my computer... What am I doing wrong??
