Do you like Loot? Do you like bashing Zombie Skulls? Do you think you're a bad ass? Well, you're not because Dead Island is here to kill you over and over and over and over again.

Dead Island came out awhile ago and while I got it when it first came out, I didn't finish it until recently. The game revolves around some simple RPG mechanics. You try to build a character based on your play style and do your best to outfit that player with gear that's going to let them play the way you want. The basic characters that you have let you toss stuff, or shoot things, or hit things really hard and in general follow general RPG elements of upgrading skill trees and going on quests to collect experience and increase the parameters of survival for the rest of the groups on the island.

Here's the premise. You're at a resort. Things go down. Things go bad. Holy cow, you're immune to zombie and here's a world good luck.

You're tossed into the game and the resort you're at is actually really cool. Its awesome to go and explore the beaches and various areas that people were staying in and hear their stories and help them out from time to time. You could almost spend half your game time just hanging out at the resort having fun and doing side quests. Then you go into a town. This is the kind of town you're warned about going to before you go on any vacation. Things go worse. and the game suffers for it.

Dead Island holds onto too many difficult mechanics and takes the equation of run, gun and have fun and then screws with it in diabolical ways. Suddenly resources are very hard to get a hold of and weapons begin breaking faster then you can repair them. If you're by yourself forget about it. This game was built for multiplayer and the increases in difficulty that enemies obtain from others being in the game is much lighter than the difficulty of being by yourself.

This is a crowd control game, meaning either the crowd controls you or you control the crowd. Very rarely do you feel in control. In fact, at the end game, you're so starved for resources that you're cursing the game itself.

Here's the real down low, this game should have been exactly like it was at the resort level. That was awesome and so much fun, but the chapters after that... oh the chapters after that make me wish I was the zombie in the game. Without any multiplayer friends there's no point in playing and though there's cheats you can use to your advantage...come on... Dead Island, you're on an island of teh dead why cheat, it should be awesome.

I'll say this... I made it through a gauntlet of the most evil angry zombies ever with my buddy. We go to the final boss. He shoots at us. We kill him. **** gets real. We deal. Game is over.

I pick the game up, take it outside, toss it to where my dog relieves herself and there it sits.

A 2 out of 5.

Bad review. Lack of evidence of playing or specific information or examples. Sounds like a game you redboxed and played overnight!

I would actually say that this is a pretty accurate review. There is very little 'meat on bones' in the game. There are ideas, but they aren't sustained throughout the game. The release version was ridiculously buggy and the story is just flat out boring. The only good thing about this game is the co-op mode which can be quite fun if you have a friend along for mashing zombies with you. But other than that, I agree with the review and the 2/5 rating.

See, this is what I'm talking about. The game actually false advertised for Co-Op comparability. Instead, you could party up through Xbox Live. So no, 1-2 Co-Op option was available for this game. Typically. When I read good reviews, they include details, spoilers (not too extreme), and accurate game Gameplay, Interfact and input in general. Maybe include photos, make lists, bod certain things. Make the review worth our time! Give us something good, not a candy coated outline.
