Xbox 360 Dead Island: Riptide Exclusive 'Zombie Bait' Edition coming to EU and Australia

Deep Island, the publisher of Dead Island: Riptide, has announced that there will be an exclusive 360 'Zombie Bait' edition that will be released in the EU and Australia only. It contains a ridiculous resin statue that may just become the showpiece of your bachelor pad or man-cave. It's 12" tall, hand painted and well, just awesome if you like statues of well endowed bikini-wearing women that unfortunately got 'bit' with the zombie bug. In addition, this jaw dropping collector's edition comes with a steel book copy of the game, collectible art cards and some weapon mods for you to use in-game. Don't forget to pre-order it if you hope to get your hands on this special edition on April 26th (April 23rd for the regular edition in the US)!

Bwahaha! Now Deep Island is apologizing if they offended anyone with the well-endowed torso statue! I wonder what kind of feedback they got to make them put out this statement via their Twitter:

A statement on the Zombie Bait Edition:

We deeply apologize for any offense caused by the Dead Island Riptide “Zombie Bait Edition”, the collector’s edition announced for Europe and Australia. Like many gaming companies, Deep Silver has many offices in different countries, which is why sometimes different versions of Collector’s Editions come into being for North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.

For the limited run of the Zombie Bait Edition for Europe and Australia, a decision was made to include a gruesome statue of a zombie torso, which was cut up like many of our fans had done to the undead enemies in the original Dead Island.

We sincerely regret this choice. We are collecting feedback continuously from the Dead Island community, as well as the international gaming community at large, for ongoing internal meetings with Deep Silver's entire international team today. For now, we want to reiterate to the community, fans and industry how deeply sorry we are, and that we are committed to making sure this will never happen again.

Oh, and BTW-North America will be getting the 'Rigor Mortis' special edition of the game. Although not nearly as controversial as the EU/Australia version, in addition to the special edition of the game, you'll get an exclusive zombie hula girl, a key to the bungalow and a zombie arm bottle opener magnet...but wait! There's more! You also get some extra DLC, a strategy map and a pretty sweet replica Dead Island suitcase. Okay, so the zombie hula girl and suitcase could be cool, but what am I going to do with a bungalow key? Anyways, the retail price on that will be $79.99, so if you are dying to get your hands on that bungalo key...I mean suitcase, make sure you pre-order it or it may be difficult to get once it comes out.

I think that's ridiculous that they had to issue a formal apology for the statue. Have you watched prime time TV at all?
