Although the visuals are nice and there isn't a better game out there for ogling digital women, the new mini-games are a poor excuse for added gameplay and too much of the first game was recycled.

5.9 out of 10 - Game Spot

Your enjoyment of Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 will be directly proportional to your interest in lusting over ridiculously idealized polygonal female models.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 just isn't as relaxing, with its frustrating mini-games and flawed core game mechanics. There's still plenty of eye-candy to be had, but if you're looking for anything more, you may want to pass.

I enjoyed Dead of Alive Xtreme 2 but had to mark it down for the ridiculous breast physics. The characters' breasts move as if they are possessed by a life force of their own. When one of the girls slowly walks down the beach, her breasts move like there's popcorn popping inside of them. It's a little distracting and creepy, kind of like the photos of the girls some players post online, taken with the in game camera.

I noticed a couple of improvements from the last game. Instead of getting one default hotel room, you can choose from 3 different rooms to vacation in, a cozy small bedroom, a rustic island cottage or a fabulous hotel suite with luxurious furnishings. There are some new minigames, like a huge water slide and jet ski races that are kind of fun. The water is gorgeous, sparkling and realistically rendered which you especially notice during the jet ski races.

This sequel also gives you the option to regift. In Xtreme 1, if the girl you wanted to partner with turned down your gift or you received a gift that you already had a copy of in your inventory, you had to throw that stuff away.
In DOAX 2, you have the option to buy gift wrap and just regift your stuff. You still have to give it to a girl that likes that item, color or she'll get insulted and not want to partner with you.

If you are looking for a deep game with an epic storyline, you won't like this game. If a vacation on an island full of gorgeous women that are wearing practically nothing, while playing beach volleyball and shopping sounds fun and relaxing to you, you might enjoy this game. My daughter and I are fans of the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden games, and we think it's kind of nice to see these girls who are mortal enemies, not trying to kill each other for a change.

This is a game to play when you've had a crappy, stressful day and just want to relax with some lush tropical scenery and babes in bikinis.
PS, there's actually a solid, decent beach volleyball game underneath all the sexiness and shopping.
