Dead Space 2 is the second installment in the Dead Space series by Visceral Games. Released on January 25, 2011 and filled with dark areas and twisted enemies, the game continues to redefine the survival horror genre of video games. Dead Space 2 continues the storyline of Engineer Isaac Clarke. This time Clarke is awoken from a coma on the massive city called “The Sprawl.” Clarke battles against his memory and the viscous Necromorphs as he attempts to learn the truth behind the Markers. Armed with some fan favorite weapons and some new fun toys, Clarke must battle his way through the Sprawl to learn the truth. Dead Space 2 features the same dismemberment mechanic that the first game revolved around, so be prepared to tear some limbs from Necromorphs!
Dead Space 2 features the usual 50 achievements, as well as 8 additional achievements available through the “Severed” DLC that was released on March 1, 2011. While most of the achievements for the standard release of the game are fairly easy to complete, there are two that will definitely be a challenge: “Mission Impossible” (7/10 difficulty) and “Hard to the Core” (9.5/10 difficulty). Every achievement other than those two can be completed in any difficulty, but I suggest playing through on Normal at lowest so that you start to get a feel for the challenge of the game. There are five missable achievements in Dead Space 2: “Lightspeed de Milo,” “Brute Juke,” “Elevator Action,” “Collect Peng,” and “Looking Good.” I suggest checking the guides for those achievements before starting so as not to miss any of them.
Dead Space 2: Severed is DLC that was released on March 1, 2011. Costing 570 Microsoft points, the game follows Gabe Weller as he attempts to escape the Necromorph outbreak on The Sprawl. The DLC contains 8 acheivements, all of which can be obtained in a single playthrough on Zealot difficulty. 5 of them at missable, so definitely check the guide for Severed before beginning!
The achievements under the “spoiler” tags under the Secret Achievements section contain the only possible story achievements in this guide. There will be some minor spoilers in the rest of the guide (mainly in the form of enemies and weapons), but no major boss or story spoilers.
General Guide
You will need to play through the game three times to earn all 50 achievements.
Playthrough 1
Achievement Guide
Made Us Whole (10G)
Complete the game on any difficulty setting
Just complete the game on any difficulty setting and the achievement is yours.
Mission Impossible (50G)
Complete the game on Zealot setting
The big difference between difficulty levels is that higher difficulties equal less ammo per drop, less health packs, and less money. With lower amounts of supplies defensive play is key to this difficulty. Keep your distance from the Necromorphs and make sure you shoot limbs off for the extra damage. You can use your Kinesis to lift poles and Slasher arms to shoot at enemies to conserve some ammo as well. Don’t forget your Stasis module either, especially if you’re fighting in a room with or near a Stasis recharge!
Complete the game on Zealot difficulty and the achievement is yours.
Hard to the Core (50G)
Complete the game on Hard Core setting
This is by far the hardest achievement in the entire game. You will have to start a fresh game on the hardest difficulty, meaning you will not have any of your supplies or weapons from the first time around. The most important thing to remember in Hardcore mode is that you have to play carefully. You only get 3 saves for the entire game, so there will be times that, if you die, you’re going to be repeating hours of game time. That being said, here are my suggestions for the best places to use your saves:
The other important thing for Hardcore mode is knowing how to best stock your inventory and weapons. You aren’t going to have a plethora of nodes this time around, so any that you do get should be put into 1 gun to make it as powerful as possible. I suggest using the Plasma Cutter almost exclusively. If you played Dead Space and did the “One Gun” achievement you already know just how great the Plasma Cutter is. If you only ever carry the Plasma Cutter, you will only ever get Plasma Cutter ammo. Alternatively you could also purchase the Force Gun, but I do not suggest buying any other weapons.
For your suit, upgrade when you can, but the key to Hardcore mode is to avoid getting hit, so your suit shouldn’t be your biggest concern. Hold off as long as you can to save money and buy a suit about halfway through the game and you should be fine.
Keep your inventory stocked with 4-5 medium med packs, 2 or 3 stacks of Stasis Packs, and 5-8 stacks of Plasma Cutter ammo (3 stacks of Plasma Cutter ammo and 5 stacks of Force Gun ammo if you decide to go the 2 guns route). Any extra money you have should be used to buy power nodes to upgrade your weapons.
Play carefully, move slowly, and aim for the limbs. If you take your time you will eventually make it out the other side of Hardcore mode, completing the hardest achievement in Dead Space 2 and gaining the achievement!
Romper Stomper (25G)
Stop 10 Containers
You can get this by Chapter 2 if you explore thoroughly and stomp every container you see. The containers you need to stomp are green with glowing white lights in the corners. Just run up and press RB to stomp them and reveal their contents. Stomp 10 and the achievement is yours.
Vacuum Cleaner (30G)
Decompress 20 Necromorphs without getting sucked out yourself
Even if you use every window to kill the maximum amount of Necromorphs you cannot get this in one playthrough, so you will get it during the New Game + playthrough on Zealot difficulty. Decompression windows are easily identifiable in that they have yellow writing on the center of the glass. Here are the locations of each window:
You’ll have anywhere from 10-17 decompression kills by the end of the first playthrough, so just knock out a couple windows during the New Game + playthrough and the achievement is yours.
Think Fast (15G)
Kill 30 Necromorphs with Kinesis objects
You can pick up a lot of different things with Kinesis (hold LT and press B). The best things to use for this are poles and Slasher arms. Pick one up and shoot it (press RT while holding something with Kinesis) at a Necromorph to impale it. The impale must kill the Necromorph to count, so you may have to shoot the enemy a couple times first. Kill 30 with Kinesis objects and the achievement is yours.
The Nanny (10G)
Kill 30 Crawlers without detonating them
This can be done across multiple playthroughs, but is possible in a single playthrough. Crawlers are the small baby-like Necromorphs that you encounter in the school in Chapter 6. The best way to kill them without causing them to explode is to use Stasis on them, then use the Plasma Cutter to shoot them in the head. If you don’t get the achievement the first time around you can use the Force Gun during your New Game + playthrough to kill them without causing them to explode. Kill 30 that don’t explode and the achievement is yours.
C-Section (10G)
Knock down an enemy with Contact Beam Alt-Fire then kill it with Primary Fire before it stands up
You can find the schematic for the Contact Beam in Chapter 7. On your way to the Solar Array you will pass a door that requires a Power Node to open. The schematic for the Contact Beam is inside that room.
Once you have the Contact Beam, find a Necromorph that is on it’s on, preferably a Slasher. Use the Contact Beam’s alternate fire to knock the Necromorph off its feet. Use Stasis on it quickly to keep it from getting back up. While the Necromorph is in Stasis and on the ground, use the Contact Beam’s primary fire to finish it off and the achievement is yours.
Going for Distance (20G)
Impale an enemy and make him fly through the air for 17 meters – it must stick to the surface
You can do this at any time during the game using a spike, rod, or Slasher arm. Pick up your item of choice with Kinesis (hold LT and press B while looking at the object) and find a Necromorph. Make sure that the Necromorph has a lot of space behind it. Hallways are the best for this, but any large room will work. While holding an impaling device (spike, rod, or Slasher arm), wait for the Necromorph to get very close to you and then press RT to fire the impaling device at it. The spike should impale the Necromorph and send it flying back towards the wall, sticking the corpse to the wall. You may need to try this a couple different times in order to get the required distance, but once you impale an enemy and make it fly 17 meters into a surface the achievement is yours.
Taste of Your Own Medicine (20G)
TK Impale a live Slasher to a surface using a Slasher’s arm – it must stick to the surface
You can get this as soon as you get the Kinesis module at the beginning of the game. Slashers are the most common enemy in the game. They look vaguely humanoid and have two large arms tipped with blades. They also usually attack in groups. Kill one, use Kinesis on the corpse to grab one of the blade arms, and shoot the appendage into another Slasher to impale it and kill it. Do this once and the achievement is yours.
It’s a Trap! (20G)
Kill 20 enemies with Detonator Mines in a deployed state
At the end of Chapter 5 you will go through a scripted fight in a large room of the church. After the fight continue on through the area, past the hallucination, and up the elevator (in which you get attacked by a Slasher). When you exit the elevator, head to the right until you reach an office. You will find the Detonator Mines schematic in the office.
Buy the Detonator Mines at the next shop and you can begin using its primary fire to lay land mines. Hitting an enemy directly does not count towards the achievement. The mine must land on a surface and fully deploy its three beams before exploding to count. Get 20 kills with the fully deployed mines and the achievement is yours.
Necro Flambé (10G)
Kill 50 enemies using the Flamethrower
You’ll find the schematic for the Flamethrower at in Chapter 6, after the big fight on the school’s stage. As you’re facing the bleachers, go through the door to the right. Follow the hallway to the left and into the room on the right. The schematic can be found in the room.
Buy the Flamethrower and start to burn Necromorphs. The Flamethrower eats through ammo very quickly, so be cautious and always keep extra ammo on hand. The easiest enemies to kill with it are the Necromorphs that look like elongated children as they are very weak and can be dispatched quickly. Kill 50 enemies with the Flamethrower and the achievement is yours.
Peek a Boo! (20G)
Kill a Stalker with the Seeker Rifle while in Zoom Mode
You will find the schematic for the Seeker Rifle as you proceed through Chapter 6. The schematic will be on the floor to the right in the room with a walkway that overlooks a bigger room.
Buy the Seeker Rifle and equip it. Make sure you have a decent amount of ammo and Stasis packs. Continue on and you will reach a warehouse with lots of boxes that is full of Stalkers. Stalkers look like raptors. They peek out at you, scream, then charge you before running off. When you see one start to charge, hit it with Stasis and then use the Seeker Rifle’s alternate fire to zoom before shooting it. Get one kill like this and the achievement is yours.
Brute Juke (10G)
Kill a Brute without taking damage
This is actually much easier than it sounds and can be done during the first Brute encounter at the end of Chapter 6. You’ll reach the Transport Hub and find a Stasis canister on the floor. Pick it up with Kinesis and wait for the people to stop talking. When they stop a Brute will drop down in front of you. Fire the Stasis canister at it and then use the Plasma Cutter to take off one of its arms. You should have plenty of time to do this before Stasis wears off. Once it’s missing an arm the Brute can no longer charge, so hit it with Stasis a second time and shoot off the second arm to kill it. Do this without taking damage and the achievement is yours.
Bouncing Betty (10G)
Kill a Cyst by catching its Mine and throwing it back
Cysts are the small growth Necromorphs that are generally attached to the ground and walls. You’ll encounter them for the first time in Chapter 6. When you approach them they will make a noise and shoot an explosive ball
Skewered in Space (15G)
Impale an enemy into a Decompression Window to cause it to blow out
The first chance you have to do this is in Chapter 3. After leaving the big chamber with the Lightspeed Boy Statue you will reach a hallway with a decompression window at the end and a rod laying on the ground. Pick up the rod with Kinesis and wait for a Necromorph to get between you and the window. Fire the rod into the Necromorph to make him fly into the window. It will get impaled to the window, which causes the window to shatter. Do it once and the achievement is yours.
Lawnmower Man (10G)
Kill 4 enemies with the same Ripper blade
The schematic for the Ripper is found in Chapter 5 by the big rotating piece of machinery that you need to slow down to activate the Zero-G chamber. Buy the Ripper and equip it (without replacing the Line Gun, as you’ll need it shortly for “Clean Cut”). In the Church you will be attacked by a large group of the Pack. If you hold down RT with the Ripper a blade will hover just past the end of the gun. Use the extended blade to cut down 4 of the Pack enemies and the achievement is yours.
Picking Favorites (30G)
Upgrade 1 Weapon completely
See “Fully Loaded” for details. You will get this achievement as soon as you completely upgrade one weapon.
Fully Loaded (50G)
Simultaneously have four completely upgraded weapons
You will need 112 Power Nodes to fully upgrade your Rig, Stasis, and the four weapons required here. You will find Power Nodes in the blue and yellow containers throughout the game, you’ll get some as rewards for boss and Brute fights, and you can buy them for 10,000 credits from the shop. It takes 30 nodes to fully upgrade the RIG and Stasis, and another 82 to upgrade 4 weapons. You can always upgrade the RIG and Stasis for the achievement, then refund the Power Nodes by spending 5,000 credits for the RIG and another 5,000 for the Stasis. This means you will only need to find an additional 52 Power Nodes. If you’re going through for the “Mission Impossible” achievement I highly suggest finding and/or buying the full total of 112 so that you have the best possible equipment for the New Game + playthrough.
When you have the 82 required Power Nodes, find a workbench and activate it to begin applying the Nodes to weapons. The 4 cheapest weapons to max out are the Plasma Cutter (18 Power Nodes), Detonator (20 Power Nodes), Ripper (22 Power Nodes), and Pulse Rifle (22 Power Nodes). You do not need to fill in every node to fully upgrade a weapon. You only need to hit every node that contains an upgrade, so take your time and figure out the most efficient path between each upgrade. Once you have all four weapons upgraded and equipped the achievement is yours.
Lightspeed de Milo (10G)
Dismember the Lightspeed Boy Statue
You will find the Lightspeed Boy Statue in Chapter 3. You will come to an area called The Concourse that contains a bunch of shops. If you look to your left when you enter the area you will see a giant spinning statue of a boy in a blue suit. Shoot off the statue’s head and arms and the achievement is yours.
Looking Good (10G)
Purchased the Advanced Suit
The schematic for the Advanced Suit is found in Chapter 11. After you disable the red space lasers you’ll enter a room with a catwalk and a sequence of battles against Necromorphs. Once the Necromorphs have all been dispatched you can continue down the hallway until you reach a pair of doors, one that is guarded by detonator mines and another that is opened with a Power Node. Enter the Power Node door and you’ll find the schematic inside. Take the schematic to a shop, purchase the suit, and the achievement is yours.
Fully Outfitted (30G)
Upgrade you Rig and Stasis completely
You will need 112 Power Nodes to fully upgrade your Rig, Stasis, and the four weapons required here. You will find Power Nodes in the blue and yellow containers throughout the game, you’ll get some as rewards for boss and Brute fights, and you can buy them for 10,000 credits from the shop. It takes 30 nodes to fully upgrade the RIG and Stasis. Once you’ve applied all the upgrades to the RIG and Stasis the achievement is yours.
The Engineer (10G)
Collect 10 Schematics
There are 27 schematics throughout Dead Space 2, 23 of which can be found in the first playthrough and 4 of which will only be found in a New Game +.
Collect Peng (20G)
Find the Peng treasure
Peng is found in the Main Frame room in Chapter 7. The room is easily identifiable by the bluish hue to everything and the air ducts leading to fuse puzzles (not to mention the holographic AI that says “unauthorized access: system mainframe” as you enter). Go through the duct and complete the first puzzle, then crawl out, activate the panel to move the duct, and continue on to complete the second. The puzzles are fairly self-explanatory, but if you’re having issues you just need to move the fuses so they match the diagrams on the ground. Once you’ve completed the second puzzle and revealed the main frame you can rearrange the fuses in the same room to reveal a “secret” room.
Remove all of the fuses and insert them back into the box until they all glow purple. The square outline fuse goes in the bottom left; the fuse with three dots across the top, two in the middle, and one on the bottom goes in the bottom right; the fuse with two dots in the top, three in the middle, and two on the bottom goes in the top right, and the fuse with a plus sign goes in the top left. You’ll know you’ve placed them right when a panel slides up next to the air duct you used to enter the room. Activate the panel to rotate the air duct, then climb through to reach a room with the Peng treasure and other items. Collect the Peng treasure and the achievement is yours.
The Librarian (10G)
Collect 100 logs
There are 189 total logs in Dead Space 2, most of which you will come across on the main path through the game. Others are scattered throughout extra areas of the game, including behind Power Node doors. The following is a complete checklist of the available logs in each chapter:
Collect 100 of the available 189 logs and the achievement is yours.
The Electrician (10G)
Collect 10 Semiconductors
Semiconductors are a whitish-blue color and are fairly abundant in Dead Space 2. They have no purpose other than being an item to sell for a decent profit. The Hangar Boss at the end of Chapter 1 drops one, so you’ll know what to look for. If you’re thorough in your searching you’ll come across 10 of them fairly early in the game. Collect 10 and the achievement is yours.
Frozen in Time (10G)
Kill 50 Necromorphs while they are in Stasis (single player only)
Hold LT and press Y to shoot Stasis at enemies, causing them to drastically slow down and giving you time to aim your shots at their limbs. Enemies affected by Stasis turn a whitish color. Kill 50 enemies while they are under the effects of Stasis and the achievement is yours.
First Aid (10G)
Use Quick Heal ten times (single player only)
You will get this simply by playing through the game. When you’re low on health use a Health Pack quickly by pressing B. Heal yourself 10 times in this way and the achievement is yours.
…And Stay Down (10G)
Kill 25 crawling enemies with Stomp (single player only)
To stomp an enemy just get close and press RB. You can easily get this in one playthrough, though the total does count across any number of playthroughs. The best way to do this is to shoot a Slasher’s legs off, hit them with Stasis as they crawl towards you, run over to the crawling torso, and start mashing RB to stomp it. You’ll know the enemy is dead when you see an item pop into the air. Using this tactic will also help towards the progress of “Frozen in Time.” Kill 25 Necromorphs with a stomp and the achievement is yours.
Shoot the Limbs! (10G)
Dismember 25 Necromorph limbs (single player only)
See “Epic Dismemberment” for details.
Epic Dismemberment (50G)
Dismember 2,500 Necromorph Limbs (single player only)
This will track over multiple playthroughs, but it is possible to get in your first. Aim for Necromorph’s limbs to cause extra damage and kill them faster. After they’re dead, go to the corpse and start stomping on it with RB. Limbs dismembered from Necromorph corpses count towards this total. If you do this with every Necromorph corpse you see in the game you should get the achievement near the end, otherwise you’ll get it early in your New Game +. Dismember 25 Necromorphs and the “Shoot the Limbs!” achievement is yours. Dismember 2,500 Necromorph limbs and the “Epic Dismemberment” achievement is yours.
Clean Cut (10G)
Sever all three tentacles of a Lurker with on Line Gun Primary Fire shot (single player only)
Make sure to carry the Line Gun with you into Chapter 5 so that you have it when you meet your first Lurker. They are smallish Necromorphs that climb walls and have three tentacles that emerge when they stop moving. Wait for one to show its tentacles while on the ground, then line up the Line Gun’s sights so that the retical covers all three tentacles. Fire the shot and as long as it hits all three tentacles the achievement is yours.
The Sampler Platter (20G)
Kill a Necromorph with every Weapon in the game (single player only)
You will need to kill at least one enemy with all 10 weapons available in Dead Space 2. Here’s the list of weapons and when you get them:
My Boom Stick (20G)
Kill 6 enemies at once with Line Gun’s Alt-Fire (single player only)
Once you’ve purchased the Line Gun from the store in Chapter 2 you’ll have to kill 6 enemies at one time with the gun’s alternative fire: a timed mine that shoots blasts in all directions. The easiest time to do this is during Chapter 3 when you’re attacked by a huge group of the child-like enemies. Run around a bit so that at least six are following behind you and fire a mine in front you. Run straight through the mine and the timing should work out that it explodes in the middle of the pack. If done right you should kill six of them at one time, and the achievement is yours.
Shock Therapy (10G)
Impale an enemy with the Javelin Gun and use it’s Alt-Fire to shock 3 others (single player only)
Once you’ve purchased the Javelin Gun from the store in Chapter 2 you’ll have to find a group of at least four Necromorphs. When you’ve located a group, impale one of them with the Javelin Gun, then activate the alternative fire when three enemies are near the dead on and the javelin should shock all of them. Hit three at one time and the achievement is yours.
Secret Achievements
Elevator Action (15G)
Knock off every Tripod during the Elevator Sequence
The Elevator Sequence is in Chapter 7, after going through the Zero-G zone and activating the thrusters on the elevator. Once you’ve completed the Zero-G zone, return to the store. Make sure you have the Force Gun or the Detonator Gun and lots of ammo for whichever one you decide to use. Save your game in a new slot here so that you can restart the sequence if you fail to get the achievement.
Once you’re ready, enter the elevator and activate it. Stand in the center, and as you ascend Tripods will break through the windows. One shot from the Force Gun or the Detonator Gun will knock the Tripods off. You must knock every Tripod off the elevator before the end of the sequence. Be patient and keep scanning the windows and you should have no problem. If you reach the top and exit the elevator without the achievement popping up, reload your save and try again. Complete the sequence while knocking all the Tripods off the elevator and the achievement is yours.

DLC: Severed Achievements
Grind House (20G)
Severed: In the grinder room, cause an enemy to die in the grinders.
Once you reach the Grinder Room you need to get one enemy into the grinders. The best way to do this is to run past the Slashers that appear and get onto the small platform above the grinders. When the Slashers attempt to attack you they will fall into the grinder, killing them and earning you this achievement.
King of the Hill (20G)
Severed: Defend the quarry platform until the door unlocks.
When you reach the quarry you will hear your friend yelling at you about the Necromorphs coming in through the vents. Run up the ramps to the platform he is on and activate the switch to override the locks. If you turn 180 degrees and look to your right you will see two desks come nearly together with a railing. Standing with your back to the railing offers the best vantage point for this event. Enemies will come after you from the ramps on the left and right. Just continue to kill the enemies until the achievement pops up.
Peng Me Again (20G)
Severed: Find the Peng treasure in Severed.
During Chapter 2 you will be riding an elevator and have a conversation about Gabe’s role in the experiment:
Once you exit the elevator you will have the option of turning left into a room filled with tables containing crafts or continue straight into a room that looks like a furnace. Go straight and head through the furnace-like room into a shower room. You’ll see the Peng statue sitting on a table right in front of you. Collect it and the achievement is yours.
Remember the Alamo (20G)
Severed: Kill 16 or more enemies in the final last stand combat sequence.
This occurs during the sequence in which you need to shoot four red locks on a big bluish door to proceed. During the event Necromorphs will be swarming you. Shoot three of the locks, then gun down Necromorphs until the achievement pops up before shooting the fourth lock. Once you’ve killed 16 Necromorphs the achievement is yours.
The Veteran (50G)
Severed: Complete on Zealot difficulty.
Simply complete Severed on Zealot difficulty. If you’ve already gotten the 50 achievements from Dead Space 2, including “Hard to the Core,” this should be no problem. You can actually use the Foam Finger weapon (awarded for completing Hardcore difficulty) through Severed, making the DLC very easy, even on Zealot difficulty. If you don’t have the Foam Finger, follow the general tips of Dead Space and your should be fine: watch your back, conserve ammo and health packs, and DON’T conserve Stasis (use it whenever you need to). Once you’ve completed the DLC on Zealot the achievement is yours.
Secret Achievements
The Betrayal (50G)
Severed: Complete Chapter 1.
Story achievement, cannot be missed.
The Sacrifice (50G)
Severed: Complete Chapter 2.
Story achievement, cannot be missed.
Ship Shape (20G)
Severed: Take out the gunship within 30 second.
At the end of Chapter 1 you will go up a ramp and through a door to find a bunch of health and a save point. Save your game and head outside. Run up to the front of the platform and grab one of the red canisters on the ground using Kinesis. Shoot the canister at the gunship. Repeat this a few more times (there is one more barrel on the ground and a dispenser on the left wall) and the gunship will go down. The gunship takes 2 direct hits with canisters on Casual difficulty and 3 direct hits with canisters on Zealot difficulty. Complete the fight in 30 seconds and the achievement is yours.
- You can play through the game on Casual or Normal difficulty. If you are going for 100%, I highly suggest Normal as practice for the next two playthroughs.
- Just play through the game and explore as much as possible. You will get 15 achievements for simply playing through the game, and will likely pick up quite a few more throughout the playthrough. Explore as much as you can to find all the ammo deposits and power nodes, as well as the logs (video and audio).
- You’re going to want to get the weapon achievements on this playthrough. As soon as you get all the weapon achievements for a gun make sure to toss it into your safe and pull out one you don’t have achievements for. This playthrough is the easiest time to get all those weapon achievements.
- Contact Beam: “C-Section”
- Detonator Mines: “It’s A Trap!”
- Flamethrower: “Necro Flambé”
- Javelin Gun: “Shock Therapy.” You can also get “Going for Distance” and “Skewered in Space.”
- Seeker Rifle: “Peek a Boo!”
- Line Gun: “Clean Cut” and “My Boom Stick”
- Ripper: “Lawnmower Man”
- Beating the game once unlocks Hardcore difficulty.
- Play on Hardcore difficulty. The entire point of this playthrough is to get “Hard to the Core.”
- Hardcore difficulty is set to the highest difficulty setting. The big catch is that YOU CAN ONLY SAVE 3 TIMES in hardcore.
- See the guide for “Hard to the Core” for helpful hints and tips.
- Play a New Game + Zealot difficulty. This is going to be a cleanup run and when you’ll nab the final achievement: “Mission Impossible.”
- The New Game + means you’ll get to start with all your weapons and suit upgrades from Playthrough 1, and having beat Hardcore difficulty you will have unlocked the Foam Finger weapon. These two factors make this playthrough fairly simple, just save often and don’t get too confident, Necromorphs can still tear you apart.
- Work on any weapon achievements you missed the first time around and just finish the game. See the “Mission Impossible” guide for more details on Zealot difficulty.
- Play through on Zealot if you want to get every achievement in one playthrough.
- Most of the achievements are fairly simple, but for a complete guide to the achievements you can check the end of this guide.
- Save 1: in Chapter 10 there is a hallway just before fighting two brutes, save here.
- Save 2: in Chapter 11, save just before starting the drill event.
- Save 3: in Chapter 13, just before starting the final sequence. You can take the elevator up to the marker, watch the cut scene, then return down the elevator so that you don’t have to watch the cut scene again and again if you die.
- Chapter 1: Critical Needs Room – the tutorial for decompression windows. When the window explodes you need to shoot the red triangle at the top to close the gate and block the opening. You’ll get one kill here.
- Chapter 3: After taking the elevator from the Concourse – the decompression window is at the end of the hallway. You will be attacked by a group of Necromorphs in front of the window. If you have the Javelin Gun you can grab the “Skewered in Space” achievement here as well. Just knock out the window to get 4-5 kills depending on how many enemies you still have.
- Chapter 4: Unitologist Indoctrination room – after fixing the fuses you will get attacked by Necromorphs. Shoot the window for 3 decompression kills.
- Chapter 7: there is a decompression window in a large room near the Power Grid Room in Chapter 7. If you wait for all the Necromorphs to come after you you’ll be able to get a decent a decent amount of decompression kills here.
- Chapter 9: After the Pressurization Control Room 2 and taking the elevator – grab the Power Node and two Necromorphs will come after you. Shoot the window and quickly shoot the red triangle to keep from getting sucked out yourself.

- Plasma Cutter: Chapter 1, automatically
- Line Gun: Chapter 2 store
- Javelin Gun: Chapter 2 store
- Pulse Rifle: Chapter 3, schematic
- Ripper: Chapter 5, schematic
- Detonator: Chapter 5, schematic
- Seeker Rifle: Chapter 6, schematic
- Flamethrower: Chapter 6, schematic
- Force Gun: Chapter 7, schematic
- Contact Beam: Chapter 7, schematic

“You were only needed to get her pregnant”
