I just bought Assassin's Creed 3 last night and started playing it. I played for about an hour and I still haven't started playing as the new guy yet. What gives?! How much longer before I get to see the new guy?

I heard from a guy that works at the local game store that you don't get to play as the half Indian guy until about 3 hours into the game. From what I heard, you play as Desmond first, then the half Indian guy's father, then the teenage version of the new guy, and finally the new guy as an adult.

So, if it takes you three hours just to get to the "main" character, does that mean this game has an insanely long campaign? If so, that would make it worth it, but I wouldn't want to spend $60 on the game only to play as the guy in all the trailers for an hour or two before the game is over.

I haven't played the game yet, but from what I've read online, it takes "at least" 20 hours to beat the campaign, so I don't think you'll be disappointed if you're looking for a long game.

Honestly, the game was disappointing. Even after you start playing as Connor (the main character), Connor proves to not be a very likeable character. He's just an angry guy the entire game, and has none of the charm that Ezio possessed in Assassin's Creed 2. And though the gameplay was relatively interesting, it doesn't deviate enough from previous games. It seriously seems as though the series is losing its steam.

It does take a bit to get to Connor, but in my opinion it was worth it. The thing they pull off with his father is great. The game took me about 50 hours but I went for 100% completion, which wasn't as hard as previous games since you have maps to find the retarded and useless collectibles.

I haven't gotten past Desmond. I was just bored. It's a shame, since I couldn't stop playing Assassin's Creed 2...

I haven't played this yet, but I've been hearing a lot of mixed reviews. I think it stinks when you really love a game and then subsequent games in the series don't live up to the previous ones.

It happens, sadly. And yeah, lot of mixed reviews for this one Assassin's Creed game, specially related to Connor. I'll be honest, though, I liked Haytham (Connor's father) more. Connor seemed to be too enamored by the idea of freedom to realize the consequences of complete freedom, which another character eventually tells him about. The Assassins used to follow a more logical goal of "peace" in previous times, it seems. Still, the story is great overall even though, as many have probably read already, the ending is kind of... yeah.

I think this still became my favorite Assassin's Creed in the end, though, because Connor's abilities are great and some of the new tools such as the rope dart are amazing and really fun to use. This reminds, though, that I still haven't played Assassin's Creed: Liberation on the Vita.

Really? 3 hours of gameplay to become the half Indian? Ugh! That's the whole reason why I want this game. It looks amazing, but I have been hearing some pretty batty things about it. I'm going to wait until it drops down to $13 on Amazon Marketplace before I buy it. I can't shell out $60 a game right now. Boo.

I think it was worth the money. I pre-ordered it because I couldn't wait to get it and I wasn't disappointed. I went to the midnight release of this one and they had a costume thing going on and I had a homemade costume of Connor. It was awesome!

I thought the thread was going to be about how the entire game was disappointing, because it was. There were some things I enjoyed, running through the forest, the current time sequences with Desmond, but the ending, god the ending was terrible.

I didn't think the ending was that bad... at least not bad enough to sour the entire experience! My only real issue with the game is how buggy and glitchy it was at release. Damn.

I've only really touched the multi-player side of Assassin's Creed 3. I got bored with the campaign very fast, as it was the same old ideas. If they brought Connor into the main storyline earlier, then I may have enjoyed it a little more and actually started to play the campaign.

I just picked this game back up the other day after about six months of not playing. I was disappointed as well when I first played through, mostly because I kind of blew through it in a week or so when I first got it. Connor just seemed so flat compared to Ezio and Altair.

When I started back up though it felt different. I was already at 95% sync so I basically spent the last few days completing all the club challenges and finding the last collectibles, and it felt like the old AC games again, with the exploring and stuff.

Hunting is also way more fun than it should be. I'm about to start the Tyranny of King Washington DLC too and my wife says it kind of ties into the present day story a bit although she didn't spoil anything.

Honestly, I really enjoyed this game. I'll admit, I was pissed running around wondering "Why aren't I an Indian yet?!?", but the plot twist was well worth it. I love the hunting aspect, and although I wasn't a huge fan of Connor's persona, I preferred him to Ezio in Revelations. I hated running around as an old man. ACIII is the first game of the franchise since ACII that I didn't just play through. The two previous games lacked personality, but I really enjoyed this one. Can't wait for Black Flag.
