I just read an article that says Microsoft is acknowledging faulty disc drives in some Xbox One units. Some people are having a problem with the drive making a grinding noise and not reading the disc, so if you have this problem, you're not alone!

I am not having this problem.. and I have yet to have somebody in the community to confirm it! Out of all the people I know didn't have this problem, and I haven't met anybody here telling me that they had this problem! Mine works flawlessly!

agree.. i have herd its the only issue so far.. my gamestop said 2 out of all the systems them sold have had this issue so far.

I've heard from most people that their console seems to be fine. I guess only very few units have the faulty disc drive, but that's just a risk you assume by buying a piece of hardware as soon as it's released.
As long as Microsoft responds for the faulty units I guess it's going to be ok.

Yup, it's a confirmed problem. They're giving away games to affected users. Here's a thread I posted on it.

Nothing is perfect

That's absolutely true. The number of consoles that actually had this issue was a very minuscule percentage of the number of consoles produced. Any time millions of anything are made, there are always a few bad apples.

I just sent mine in this morning for a faint ticking noise when my box is in standy by. I hate being without a box but the noise was annoying. They wont give me a new game. New games are for people with faulty optical drives. Im going to call tomorrow and request a free game again

Heard the same thing about some PS4s. It sounds like, for both consoles, the issue is very limited, but this is why I usually wait until after launch. Consoles are too hard to find and it's possible you're stuck with a dud.
