We have been having the problem once in a while, but it is rather annoying. Especially since most of the games that are played on ours take quite a while to get to a save point. The game just freezes and he has to turn it off and then back on to fix it. Of course he had lost his progress in the mean time.

It happens with different games so I can't say it is a certain game. When it freezes it is almost like you paused it. You see the picture from where you were in the game only frozen. It doesn't happen everyday, but it can be quite annoying. Anybody else have this problem?

I've had issues like this on occasion and more often than not I think the issue for me personally was actually with the power supply of all things! I dont know if this would be the same for you, but the main issue I had was because I had a faulty USB cord that I used to charge my battery packs for my controller plugged in.

I had no idea what it was at first, and I usually had to unplug the power supply from the xbox and wait for a little while before the problem was solved again, eventually found the cord was the source of the Xbox freezing problem and I just unplugged it and eventually bought a new charging kit.

Nope, the only time I can remember mine freezing is in FIFA 13 on career mode, as there was a now-patched freezing issue whenever you tried to simulate to the next game.

The only time mines started to freeze was when it was about to die.

Keep a look out.

There is only once that I have noticed our Xbox freezing and that was during a game of Fifa, my only thoughts are that is either overheated or the game disc was a little dirty at the time. If this happen on a regular basis though I would get it sent away as soon as possible for maintenance (hopefully the warranty is still in date). My first PS3 died with the warranty less than a fortnight out, so annoying.

Yeah, probably overheating. You should make sure the console is ventilating properly because it might just stop working one of these days if it doesn't have good ventilation. Also, you should open the console and clean up the dust there. GL with your problem!

No problem with freezing here.
Listen to the above comments, could be overheating.

Clean the dust out. Sure, this is probably a problem with ventilation but dust is also a conductor for electricity. It carries a spark and you want absolutely nothing to do with the results of that. :/

When I first got my Xbox it almost never froze, however as the years started to stack on, it would start freezing and having the occasional Hiccup. This could be for a few different reasons, but the most common is a good sign that you might be getting the Red Ring of Death soon. Happened to my box and two other friends a few months after it started freezing pretty badly. The same thing can be said with a PS3, but that's not what we're here for. Getting a new Hard Drive could also possibly fix the freezing, since it might be corrupted, have to much data, or just be on it's last legs from years of use.

This usually happens to our xbox when my brother forgets to keep the cabinet open, and closes it. After a little while the xbox overheats and freezes (interesting how it freezes when it gets too hot). This always happens in game, of course, so we have to start the levels over, which is awful. I only find a game really fun when played the first time, and having to play it again later. But, anyway, I do have a problem with my xbox freezing, and it sucks!

I faced screen freeze problem 2 or 3 times, and it was because of the faulty game discs. But there are some other reasons that make your screen freeze while playing. Overheating is a most common reason. You may have a look in this article that explains it- Xbox Freezing Solutions.

I have posted a thread in how to's and tutorials forum that explains the solutions for screen freezing problems in details-- How to solve Original Xbox 360 Screen Freeze Problem

Yeah, when I had the old one though, back then I played it a lot and took bad care of it.

I occasionally encounters this, and the only way to fix it is to shut off the power to my Xbox. It's only happened around 10 times so far, hopefully no more. It only happens when I play Call of Duty games for some reason. My friends don't have encounter this, so i'm guessing it's my Xbox.

I remember a game or two doing that, but if you keep your console in a well ventilated area and with good space to breathe, i think those problems hardly happen that much.

Nope. We've had it shut down from overheating in the past, but not freezing

Its funny, everyone always has problems with their Xbox overheating and all but its never happened to me. Although, i do have a good amount of problems with my games freezing on me. It really sucks because its always when im having a perfect gaming time and then it will just freeze randomly and make me not even want to play anymore. What BlackSolaris said makes sense though because i do feel like it only happens after a long session of gaming, and my Xbox isnt in the most ideal place so i guess i can forgive it.

My console does freeze. It freezes about once every two months, often during a weather extreme. The hot temperatures really cause it to over-heat and that is likely the impetus to the freeze. If I don't have the heat on and the unit hasn't been on or long it will freeze from time to time in those winter months.
