Dunno why I'm posting this but I thought I'd let people know! :P

Recently started Fallout New Vegas on Hardcore :) getting to grips with having to sleep eat and drink is difficult. I made the mistake of having low survival skill so I need to raise that quickly because at the moment I can't do anything on camp fires lol!

So far I'm loving it though Just got to prim and destroyed all the escaped Convicts there. I took the land mines from the bridge near the NCR camp and put them through the halls of the hotel where the deputy was. When i got chased out all I heard was a couple of big bangs followed by some large XP gains so my plan worked, haha I love it when a plan with explosives comes together. I'm definitely going to be using a lot of land mines because they are so much fun lol.

I'm trying to play as realistically as possible and sleep through the nights, wake up at 6am every morning, do some hunting for some hides and loot to sell and what not, eat, drink and explore. It's really enjoyable at the moment. Instead of rushing through the game to get to the casinos and win money on roulette or finish the main storyline as quickly as possible I'm trying to play it out nice and slow and gain a lot more levels before I even reach the strip.

Any of you guys ever do stuff like this?

Hardcore mode is fantastic though I personally felt that it was still not hardcore enough. I noticed my character could go on without eating, drinking or sleeping for quite long periods of time. It definitely is much more fun than playing the game on normal mode, though! I played through on Hard-Very Hard (Hard at first because the game is brutal on Very Hard at the beginning) with Hardcore Mode. I've been thinking of replaying the game on Hard with Hardcore Mode with a little addition... no HUD! It would be fantastic and would make it much more realistic.

That sounds good! I'm currently only on normal since its my first play through on hardcore so I gotta get to grips with it, once that is done I plan to do it on hard or very hard but with a different play style so it doesn't become boring! I'm currently enjoying it so much I can't wait to get to a higher level and some better weapons!

I love it when games implement optional hardcore modes, including features like Eating, Sleeping, Drinking and yes, Permanent Death.

I enjoy both realism, and challenge. Which is why I appreciate that New Vegas implemented the features by default. Where was this feature in Oblivion or Skyrim? :p
However, hardcore mode aside, I couldn't get into New Vegas the same as I did Fallout 3. As a result, I never played too much of it - but I did enjoy hoarding my foodstuffs and water to survive ;)
