Attracting indie developers has been a strong focus for Sony Computer Entertainment and the PS4, but Microsoft is moving as well with its ID@Xbox project, that apparently is just a couple months away to bear fruit and has a lot more coming in the future, as tweeted by the program’s official account.

"@losgarcias @XboxP3 Dozens of independent developers are making games for Xbox One. The first ID@Xbox titles are slated to arrive in March."

We also learn that the first wave won’t be enormous in size, but quality should be ensured by the fact that it’ll come from established developers.

"@dparente To kick off the program, we’re focusing on a small number of established developers. We’ll have more details in this week’s email."

I've said before how much I enjoy indie games, I even named a few in my games of the year over at my blog. This sort of news definitely excites me and I hope the idea is handled correctly since Sony has been having a great indie offering while MSFT has been missing out.

This is great. Well, things are looking up for the Xbox One. Finally, the indie movement has swerved to the Xbox One as well. Let's hope things get going well so more gamers can have more choices! Will we see The Witness on Xbox One? We shall see.

I'm excited to see these new indie games that can really have people buy the Xbox One. :-D Oh yeah! Cannot wait to see what they got.

Well, well, what do we have here: Microsoft's finally getting their groove into the indie scene. Well, good show for the MSFT. I hope that whatever they have in store for everybody, it's awesome.

I'm glad on this point, Microsoft has never had the best reputation with the indie community and this is a chance for them to really start proving that reputation wrong. I'm interested in seeing which indie companies bury the hatchet and try again with Microsoft and hopefully more titles (i.e. Jonathon Blow) start coming.

hopefully its a few of them 20 dollar arcade indie games... i want something to enjoy that is not trying to be a blockbuster title.

i would love to see a tmnt remake like they just did on 360 ported to the xb1... but really we had some good arcade/small title games on 360 that surprised us. i hope microsoft dosnt over look thme in hopes ofthe big score.

Whatever it is, having more games in the library is always a good thing. Nice to see that Microsoft are giving indies their fair chance at publishing their games on the Xbox. I'm eagerly waiting to see what titles will be available in the future. This should give Sony a run for its money.

But watch out, Sony's not going to let their money run that easily. Sony hasn't said a word since their recent releases of the other indie games so yeah, it's not yet certain. But you gotta hand it to Microsoft, they sure know their way now with the indies.

True, true. Give us the great indie games that don't need to be something else. Just the indie game that evokes the indie spirit, the indie game that's made with the heart. We need that for the Xbox One. I'm sure these new indie titles will give us that.

Yeah, true. This may finally change the developers' attitude towards Microsoft. I hope it can change so more games can come for you guys.

After the relationship they had with indies on the Xbox 360, they needed to reach out to them. Good on Microsoft.

This is definitely something good. We will have more games to choose from and more games to play. I hope they can have some cool JRPGs or even some action games that will be part of the release. I wish they could come up with a list.

Definitely something to expect from microsoft. With the trend they had with 360 it's no surprise to have the same thing on Xbox One.
