I really enjoyed the book Eragon, and I wondered if the game follows the book pretty well or if I would be annoyed if I tried to play the game because the storyline is different. Does anyone know?

it follows the movie more then the book. Plus it's really short and the level design is linear. Pretty much it's only good for gamerscore.

How short is really short? Could you put an estimate on the number of hours of gameplay? Oh, and apart from being linear, is it good? I'm just curious because I too like the book (and the movie) and just spotted this thread, having not realized there's a game available. I'd be interested to try it but not if it's only like two hours long and horrid to play...

I found a trailer for it on youtube. It's for the one made by Sierra (I assume PC - did they do xbox stuff, too?), and was released originally in 2006, so the graphics are not the greatest. If the xbox game is the same, it would probably be ok.

I think most of the time, games tend to be more like the movie (if there is one) than the book. Gameplay is really more important, in my opinion, than whether the storyline is the same as a previously written story, even if it has the same name and characters.

Yeah. I forgot there was a movie about it. It makes sense that it would be closer to the movie, since that's what most people would be expecting. I'll probably look into getting a copy at some point.
