Forza Motorsport 5: How the Xbox One racer's Drivatar system works

How Drivatars come to life with player behavior and "big data"

Our assumption with how Drivatars work is that it would average out a player's performance over time and apply it broadly to whatever situation it is thrown against.

Apparently not so; Drivatar actually takes "incredibly specific" scenarios - alongside "big data" accumulated from the population - and will use what you did again when you're not physically behind the wheel.

"Every time you race, we're going to upload some telemetry of the decisions that you made, and what was going on in the context of when you made those decisions," design director Dan Greenawalt told Digital Spy.

seems intresting. still cant wait for my limited edition game:) should be intresting to see how this all pans out. as much as i am into cars and such i worry bout how hard the driviatar can make the game over time. i hope they can pair you with like minded racers so your not getting blown away by much better skilled gamers.

Well, racing games are fun and I REALLY enjoy Forza series, but I've always ended up 1st place when playing (maybe not always, but at least 90% of the time). Part of the issue is the game allowing you to make more capable car than the competition, but the other part is that the AI drivers have always been subpar.

I'm really looking forward to Forza 5 with Drivatars, it could be a huge change in how gamers experience AI and I hope it makes the game more realistic in terms of competition between you and the AI (aka Drivatars).
