Xbox One Future Lionhead Games May Not Resemble Fable

Lionhead has revealed it's working on several unannounced projects that bear no resemblance to Fable. In an interview with Eurogamer, studio boss John Needham explained that while the developer is aware its primary focus is the Fable series, that doesn't mean there's nothing else in the works.

"We're working on other games, too," he said. "We're working on other different sorts of games as well that we're not talking about right now and won't be Fable-esque."

Lionhead has a number of Fable projects in the works that we know about: there's the HD remake of the first game, Fable Anniversary, as well as Fable Legends and the upcoming Fable Trilogy bundle.

Definitely a good thing to see some first party MSFT studios branching out. MSFT unlike Sony has always been known for simply re-hatching sequels out of their studios and not allowing much new creative growth. This could be a very good sign of things to come.

Branching out could be giving Fable a rest for awhile and bringing back Black & White and finally getting The Movies to gaming consoles. I like that Wikipedia simply says "Unannounced Non Fable Game."

Hmmm,, this sounds awesome. Finally, we're going to see some good ol' original IP. I think that's what's I'd love to see more: more original IPs. At least now with this studio, they can give Fable a break and just venture into the new stuff.

Agreed bro. We need to see what else this studio can do. Seeing the same old, same old just gets tiring. A new IP is what we need to really stimulate more out of the studio's talents. More Xbox One IPs is going to rock and roll man!

But what will it be? Will it be a shooter in the WW2? Will it be a beat'em-up? An adventure in the world of sci-fi? So many possibilities for them to say it will not resemble Fable. Well, they make it, they show us. We'll have to wait for it.

I'm glad. I want something different from Fable which let's face it has had some pretty rough times. I really want this to not only not resemble Fable but for Lionhead to completely jump the shark and try something 100% new. It doesn't have to be a shooter and part of me really doesn't want it to be a shooter. Maybe a sci-fi series would be good.
