This article definitely goes a long way to make help my my Smartglass fears, slowly begin to vanish.

Here are the features Nick’s ZDC PDA will support:

Exclusive Side Missions and Rewards: You will receive phone calls and text messages from in-game characters on your SmartGlass device which will activate special missions exclusive to SmartGlass users. These missions have their own story that feeds back into the fiction of "Dead Rising 3" and will reward players with exclusive weapons and additional support applications for your ZDC PDA.

Mission Tracker: Track your progress towards all your active missions without having to pause and navigate the in-game menus. SmartGlass gives you a mission checklist as well as a map for quick reference as you fight your way through the zombie hordes.

Los Perdidos News Ticker: With the news ticker, you’ll get updates and hints on where zombie outbreaks are happening around the city, giving you an edge as you plan your escape (or attack!).
Real-Time Map: Shows your location in Los Perdidos, the location of your co-op player and other points of interest in the world.

Support Applications: Use the ZDC Military Support app to request drone gun support, military grade flares to distract zombies or an air strike to decimate an infected area. You can also utilize Item Finders to locate specific weapons, vehicles and stores scattered throughout Los Perdidos, or the Backup app to call in survivors to help you fight and get Hints to help with missions or boss fights.

Be sure to check out the full article since it also speaks about Smartglass use in Project Spark and Just Dance 2014. I think the way Smartglass is being integrated into DR3 is very outside the box in the best of ways. Getting phone calls and text messages from in game characters goes beyond allowing you to immerse yourself in this created world and almost becomes surreal in my opinion. It also seems practical, since so much information is available to you with out interrupting gameplay. What do you guys think of Smartglass now?

Just another gaming experience I am excited for :)

Something that sounds like a lot of fun to me is making DR3 basically a semi couch-friendly co-op game. Since you can update map locations, call in airstrikes, etc all from smartglass, I'm imaging my Wife sitting on the couch next to me with smartglass and me playing DR3, but she's helping me out by using the smartglass app. Basically she could be my "Cortana" in DR3. :) Now if there were just some way for her to get achievements by helping me out like that.

Sorta off-topic, this same thing excites me about the new Fable game, the 5th player can use smartglass to play the villain. Imagine 4 people on the couch plus the 5th person being the villain, all playing from the same room one Xbox One/TV setup. :)

Smartglass is going to provide a lot of accessibility options for gaming on the Xbox One, I'm very excited for it.

I had the same thoughts about Fable and the possibility is great. I'm old school and still prefer couch co-op. Not that i don't game online, just prefer it.

I could write a book on my pet-peeve in regards to the lack of couch co-op games on current gen consoles. I much prefer couch co-op as well.

This is why I appreciate games like GOW and Halo. Even the new Splinter Cell.

You and I are definitely on the same page. Halo and GOW are two of the very very few franchises I have on-disc that I will never sell. It's also why I keep buying them, both are game franchises my Wife and I have beaten couch co-op.

I hope Xbox One and next gen bring more couch co-op gaming experiences. I find it ironic that when technology finally allows us for huge TV's and mega advances in hardware, the game developers steer away from split-screen gaming. I suppose it's too much emphasis on graphics and not enough on gameplay that deters developers from creating split-screen experiences. Again...I could write a book....

At least smartglass and tablet connected gaming offers a different twist on the couch co-op experience.

Yup! visit that site all the time!

i wonder how fequent they will offer those side missions of how they will get with these features. i can see if your out at a bar killing time but at work and all that its a bit much to have emails going off allthe time for a game.

That's not how Smartglass works. The calls and stuff will obviously only happen when your logged into Smartglass and playing DR3. It al has to be on the same network too.

that is how the 360 smart glass works. they talk like smart glass is going to incorp gaming and smart glass away from console.

tom clancy division you can play on tablet thru smart glass as support showin in demo's
bf4 smart glass you can be a commander on table and not be at home as long as you have internet connection.

they are pushing the on the go gammer. or maybe i am way overlooking how they are marketing some game features.

Last but not least, there's the companion app for tablets. "We believe we are setting the bar for what companion gaming means for the next generation of consoles," the Q&A gushes. "Having applications which allow you to view and modify your character offline is not enough.

"Companion gaming will be a meaningful experience in this game, where players can feel that they influence the world from their tablets or smart phones and are able to truly interact with other players. Companion gamers will be able to join groups, act in combat situations and experience their own progression and storyline through the game.

I meant regarding you getting unwanted text and phone calls. That idea is ridiculous.

I personally believe that this is just another step towards new and improved technology. Still, I do wish they work and "reinvent" the system in a way because smartglass as of right now doesn't suit me that well due to having a rectangle on my screen as I'm trying to play. I mean... if it was more "transparent" and integrated, the SmartGlass wouldn't be such a bad idea. Also, it seems to me as if all of this is starting because of the phone availability in GTA 4 where you could call Roman and so forth. Ohhh, it's hard for me to imagine what type of things game developers will come up with in a few years. :)

This is something seriously ground breaking, by the looks of it - it "should" or might be a very fun and exciting experience. I can't wait for every single gadget/update in the future! :)

This sounds very awesome, probably going to be a amazing new experience for everyone to enjoy.

Smartglass is used on your personal phone or tablet, not the tv. The picture was just to show the interplay between the 2 and the interface your would see n your smartphone or tablet. It would be on the tv blocking your gameplay view

I think it should also be mentioned that MS is making an entirely new smartglass app specifically for next gen. So if you've been using the current smartglass app, expect the new one to be much more robust and have a much quicker response time between device and console.

I am very excited about Dead Rising personally. I think Dead Rising will be a must purchase for myself. It looks like it will be the best of the series, and it looks just as entertaining as previous versions.
