Between October 11 and 24, you can pick up a pre-owned original 360 for only $99.99 ($30 less than the previous $129.99 price), a pre-owned Xbox Slim 4GB model for $119.99 (previously priced at $179.99), and any pre-owned PS3 for $149.99 (way down from the previous $259.99 price tag). If you buy any of these systems, you will receive one pre-owned game of your choice that is priced at $19.99 or less for free. If you're a PowerUp Rewards member, you have an exclusive one-day early access to the promotion, and you'll get a 30% discount on all PS3 and 360 accessories, plus 10% off your overall purchase, bringing the total savings to 40%.Said GameStop vice president of pre-owned merchandise Jon Haes:
"We are very excited to offer our customers this tremendous deal on these two great consoles. We are always looking for new ways to bring value to our customers and this deal is a great opportunity for people to experience gaming at a great low price."

So what do you think? I figure this will help them clean out some of their excess used console stock. It's a good move on their part because obviously the new consoles are about to come out, plus people are going to start thinking about shopping for the holidays. It's a great option for someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on the new consoles once they come out-Plus, they'll have a huge library of games to choose from ;)

That's awesome. I never looked at gamestop as a place to buy games. I didn't see what was so special about it. Now I see why. They obviously have some great prices and a rewards program aswell. This makes me want to go to gamestop right now. They need to make one where I live.

they have great prices usually if you watch... dont go in blind with money. lol.

i seen the email about price drops. i have a new 360 so a ps3 would be my only go to at this point and i really dont need more games laying around. i am already thinking of putting the 360 in the living room leave the time warner tv app, netflix, amazon prime on it for movies and such. even thought about a kinect for the parents lol. i can see them now yelling at the tv or just swipping things in the air lol.

i had debated putting the xb1 out their and hooking up the tv/digital to see how it all works but am undecided. i know with bf4 and the other games i will be on it a good bit doing that and not tv.

Just wait until you have something to trade in.

"Oh, I see you have a game that we are selling used for $35. You can get $0.25 cash or $0.30 store credit. F*ck you. You are OUR B*tch."

I avoid them at all costs. Whatever sales they run are usually still a good bit more expensive than Amazon. And with free shipping on orders over $25, it's just a matter of whether you're patient enough to wait 2 days or not. Oh, and release date delivery on preorders for a dollar. Still cheaper than sales tax.

Example: I just researched what it would be for my console listed above. Slim 4GB model, 320GB HDD upgrade.

Gamestop: $120 + 130 + 15 = 265 (console + HDD + tax in my area)

Amazon: 100 + 56 + 0 = 156 (console + HDD + shipping)

My savings: $109 OR 109 PBR's on Tuesday Nights at Simon's OR almost 2 NEW games OR 3 years of XBL OR 5-11 handy's depending on which side of town you're on.

Me? I'll wait 2 days.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention that none of these are Amazon promotions or sales, like the OP is quoting from Gamestop. My $109 savings is THEIR sale vs Amazon's "Errday" price.

we kinda all know gamestp is not the place to sell/trade in.. but as far as walking in to get a console used they stand behind that 100% and the price is usually fair market. their exclusive dlc or pre order goodies are usually the beast around. i have found their online customer service to be very fast and usually very helpful let alone the in store/managers willing to make things right.

i had bought a used console and the disk reader went bad in a week. unseen issue cant blame gamestop. i walked in with it in a box walked out with a newer unit at the same price. manager actually dug thru used systems to find the most recent one that had in stock used. and also put a cleaner face plate on it..(never asked) i than decided 4 months later i wanted a brand new 360 for the bigger hd(not avaliable) he called the dm explained the situation. he ok'd me value what i payed for my 360 towards the new one. maybe not every store manager does this but for me that is service you cant beat.

so i dont trade games in no biggie they have still bend over backwards to make my gaming experiance the best it could be thus far. they are getting my money with the xb1 and feel confident microsoft and gamestop will stand behind it.

amazon may beat the price used but their is no way the turn around time or warranty on used system is ever going to be as good as gamestop when you can walk in and fix the issue face to face. no down time you talk to a real person and if you act human odds are they will help you.

Excellent prices, I almost feel like it's a shame that I already have access to both consoles (which were purchased at full price). That being said, sales will only deplete as everyone moves on to the next generation. I can't imagine too many people are looking at these prices as an opportunity when support for these consoles will only be around for another couple years.

It is a business step by them as they have to clear the previous stocks as they have to sell the upcoming Playstation 4 and the Xbox One, it will benefit the customers looking for cheaper Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Amazing news. I am going to buy one for my cousin as his birthday gift. But I will be looking for a good second hand deal.

I prefer ordering online my games, and always getting them brand new and factory sealed, but i guess that is always a good thing for people that want to play a lot of games and don't want to spend that much money.

you can buy brand new factory sealed games at gamestop. they offer pre order dlc content that is usually the best pre order content out of the bunch.
you can buy used games as wll. or dlc or smartphones/tablets or well basically any console or tec gadget on the market.

but again the best part about gamestop is how they stand behind the used stuff. the trade in games are not beat up or scratched. if you buy a used console and it tanks they give a replacment(in a window of time) they are willing to help with whatever.... 99% of the hate gamestop gets is how it does trade in's and upsells back to the consumer. but the game is still cheaper than new and in new condition.

what stinks with with games like bf3 buying used where if you dont have or didn't have the multiplayer code you pay for that but dont blame gamstop that is an ea sports thing. and i had it happen to me. its things you learn.

"Used consoles".........

Really now? Who would even buy used Xbox 360's or PS3's that have been out for several years already? Now that the next generation of consoles are near release, I personally doubt anyone would even consider getting a USED old-gen console. Marketing people these days need to learn how consumers react.

I'm not very surprised. The PS360 is in its end of life.
Next-Gen happens, but I know that the PS360 will survive a bit before falling into oblivion.

I will continue to update a bit on PS3 before moving on PS4, this is normal.
Many people sell their consoles, so it makes sense from Gamestop to bring down prices.

It will allow the latter reluctant to try the PS3.

A used 360 for less than $100? SWEET! Now we can actually afford to buy a second one to put in the bedroom. My wife will never be able to get away from Call of Duty now.

You would be wrong in thinking so. Many people wait to buy a console close to it's EOL so that they have an extensive back log and for dirt cheap prices.

That is a great price for both of those systems. I would purchase one of them, but I think it would be useless in my opinion. It is just not something I would purchase personally.

Great prices but the consoles are still second hand at the end of the day and I don't really trust used electronic good. Good for everyone who bought it though hope you enjoy your purchase.
