That is allot of first to know news watches. I wonder how many are multi platform or are getting info on both. idk i just cant get behind PS4 maybe its the games.. Honestly i just cant get behind it.

Gamestop President Tony Bartel didn’t share pre-order numbers, but did reveal that 1.5M people are on the “first to know” list for the PS4, while 700,000 are for the Xbox One.

Whoa! That's huge man. I mean, just look at the numbers. PS4 is clearly the leader at this moment, but it won't be ling until Xbox One will catch up with them.

No surprise here. The console market has grown exponentially in the past few years and more and more people are buying them now a days. Many people are even buying multiple consoles.

Hopefully this time's console race will be more interesting as both the consoles have same release window.

Will it be as big and dangerous as the last generation? Because damn, there were people getting shot over the lack of stock for the Wii and others getting their PS3 stolen right after being bought. I think this is one of those moments that it's just better to get it online!

I agree, hopefully everyone keeps their cool.

i dont think we will run into the issues of lack of consoles on launch day.. or the 6 months of promised consoles and no delevery. i belive those days are long gone. both should be expecting sales like this knowing how the 360/ps3 did was a testament to the gaming community and how big it is.

Retailers also announced the biggest down-fall for game pre-orders. Especially for call of duty ghosts, last year - they've reached 12 million pre-orders, let alone purchases after the game came out.

Now, It's steadily going up to two million.

I don't think PS4 users will have a problem getting their console. However, there has been news about how Microsoft has postponed their launch in a few countries in Europe, which could be a reason the number of people on the waiting list is less for Xbox One. I probably won't get it first thing, I'm considering waiting a bit, just to let the bugs get sorted out first.

Not surprising there's so many buyers nowadays. Gaming is now apparently "cool" so there's a lot more people that are into gaming, casuals or not. Gaming has been becoming more accepted as time goes on.

I have to admit, other than lack of funds one of the reasons I wait awhile to get something SO popular and new like this, is to avoid the chaos and possible disappointment. I get creeped out thinking about crazies standing in long lines with normal people.

Its good to hear that this is going to be amazing. I think the reason there aren't as many pre-orders is MSFT is controlling it from what I read. They want to make sure they can satisfy their day 1 countries. But all in all this is truly going to be an amazing year for all gamers

I really hope this comes true. Putting fanboyism aside, I really wish for both consoles to do really well and to maintain the console market as big as ever. With the transition we've been seeing in the general gaming market, with users favoring more casual and portable offerings (freakin' iphones), I really wish for the core gaming industry to remain strong. There have been some predictions that this generation will be weaker than the previous one, and I really hope this won't be the case. The Wii U's failure got me a little bit worried about the state of the console market itself; however I've come to the conclusion that this was a direct consequence of Nintendo's missteps rather than a reflection on the state of the console market itself.

I can only wish for a strong, powerful launch for both consoles that will further increase the significance of gaming as a medium in society.

This is true when i was younger gaming was a nerdy thing if you had a ps3 or xbox you were considered a nerd now everyone just sweats out there consoles on like headset or whatever they do.
