Want to be getting an Xbox One for free? Catch the criminals!

As Kotaku reports,
A shrewd lawman in a town outside of New Orleans has a novel approach to putting a stop to a recent wave of pellet-gun vandalism: Offer an Xbox One as a reward. Maybe that'll get someone to fink on these twerps.

Sheriff Greg Champagne of St. Charles Parish, La. offered up the bounty on Thursday. He's dealing with 11 incidents in Norco, La. where business-, car- and homeowners report getting their windows shot out by a BB gun.

"Sheriff Champagne is offering an XBOX ONE gaming console as a reward," says a announcement (which really should be printed in this font) "for anyone providing information that leads to the arrest AND conviction of the person(s) responsible for the damage."

Whoa? It might sound like some kind of spoof, but this sounds serious. The vandals have done a lot to make the sheriff put up the Xbox One as a reward.

Sheriff Champagne told the St. Charles Herald-Guide he suspects "at least two male juveniles in the area are responsible." The vandals struck first the day before Thanksgiving, shooting out the rear windshields of three cars. The following Saturday, they shot out another rear windshield and tried to shoot out a big window at furniture store, which withstood three pellets before the shooters gave up. Since then, another six incidents have been reported.

Know anything? The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office asks that you call 985-783-6807 and ask for Det. Chris Baird. Hell, for an Xbox One, maybe one of the suspects will turn himself in to get the bounty—like those idiot supervillains undone by their love of Hostess cupcakes and fruit pies.

There you have it guys. Bringing criminals to justice brings you an Xbox One for free. We already got Humble Bundle to help Ethiopians drink fresh water everyday, and now we have a sheriff offer a game console for those who can bring vandals to justice. My thoughts? I'd do this one. Those vandals have wrecked havoc already, so if the sheriff is willing to offer an next-gen console for a reward, sure. But hey, even if the sheriff didn't offer a console, I'd still go ahead and bring the vandals to justice.

Wow. You get a reward to catch on criminals? But truthfully, I'd still call on to get those criminals even if the reward wasn't there. It's for the good of the people, to keep them safe from harm and of course to protect the properties. But the sheriff really wants to have help so it's a nice touch to give the Xbox One as a reward.

Wow! Some kids are absolutely ridiculous. How do they find doing things like that fun? Karma will bite them worse when they're older. Nifty little reward though! Sometimes I think BB guns should be banned or licensed in every country. They can be very, very dangerous and they look so real to the point of needing to be so up close to tell if it's a real gun or a BB gun.

I agree. They've got to be apprhended and be taught a lesson. It can be harmful to the many innocents out there just going about their days and a drag for the many whose properties get damaged. I hope good citizens can find them and call in for the sheriff.

It just saddens me that there are people like these, vandalizing stuff for their enjoyment while other people suffer. I hope they get apprehended too. I'm just surprised the sheriff is willing to reward anybody who catches them an Xbox One. I guess he saw the trend in console sales these days, that's why he put it up? Either way, if it were me, I'd go for it even without the reward. I'd think of the Xbox One as a plus for me.

Reminds me of the Old West with rewards for catching criminals.
Reading this reminded me of the threats I saw of people saying they are going to shoot down Amazon's drones with BB guns to get people's orders, did anyone else see that?

Whoa, really? That... whoa, that worries me a bit. For a second, I liked the idea of the drones but when you just said some people want to take down the drones.... O_O Boy, oh boy this is going to be the Techie Wild West.

Not yet but damn, there are threateners as early as now? Amazon better work up the kinks to that service or else, we'll be hearing reports of stolen drones sold for profit in the future. Criminality is already advancing alongside technology.

Obviously they think that kids are doing it. I mean, otherwise, why not offer a Visa gift card? lol

Wow, I am going to have to open up my artillery and get my hear on. I am gonna go catch me some bad guys. This is not new news. People have been robbing stores for the new gaming system since they came out. People see dollar signs, and it might be young people, but I doubt it is kids. I think it is young people, 17-25 doing it. They would have the means to rob and the knowledge of what they are worth.

No, there has been a rash of BB gun vandalism and they are offering a new Xbox One as a reward!

Like what jstep7262 said, it's about a bunch of people doing BB gun vandalism in the town of St. Charles Parish. The sheriff is offering the Xbox One as a reward for catching the criminals. They're not robbing any consoles. They're just vandalizing stuff. Sheriff wants to speed up the capture by rewarding anybody with an Xbox One.

Yeah, maybe it's just the young adults. But then again, maybe it is the kids. We're not on the field to know if they are but I guess if the sheriff's been around the town for long, he may already know that the potential criminals are the kids.
