I was reading on Wikipedia earlier today that Halo 4 is the first game in a new Halo trilogy called the Reclaimer trilogy. Is that a misprint or should I take it to mean that Halo 5 and 6 are already in the works?

Nope, that's not a misprint at all. Microsoft had announced 4 was the start of a new trilogy even before Reach had released. The design and development for Halo 5 has already just got underway as we speak.

Hey, that's awesome! I didn't know that Halo 4 was the start of something new for the series. It's nice to know that at the very least, we have two more Halo games to look forward to. I just wonder how long it will take them to design and produce them.

I would anticipate a relatively short development time for the next iteration of Halo. Development studios are getting to the point where they count on an updated version of their game reduced annually. This does not only apply to sports games anymore (such as the Madden series), but also applies to shooters such as Call of Duty.

To expand upon OnlineNinjas response, with the tools for game development available today, a small team of indie developers could create something the level of Halo:CE in under a year. With that in mind, the competitive nature of FPS as a whole, and the competitive age of commerce for gaming(CoD being released annually on very close dates, it's almost expected for 343 to be able to deliver a quality product in just 365 from their first major release.

But yes, the Reclaimer trilogy did begin with Halo 4, as the gaming community's response to Master Chief's departure at 3 warranted for more of such an epic, self-sacrificing character.

TL;DR : We looooove Master Chief hahaha

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

(Not sure if this is considered a spoiler or not but made an alert just in case)

Halo 6 is going to be the last Halo game. I forgot who said it, but I know it was a 343 employee, said that the Master Chief is finally going to die for real in Halo 6.

Well, everybody must die eventually.

Let's hope the Halo 4, 5 and 6 trilogy acts like Halo 1, 2 and 3. We all know how each game just got better and better with Halo 3 being arguable the best (at least in my opinion with regards to competitive play, weapon balance, etc.)

The very idea of Master Chief truly dying hurts for me to think about. I always assume no matter how bad it gets, he's just drifting somewhere, waiting for another opportunity to kick major ass and save another galaxy or two. He's a god among men.

Has anyone heard, yet, whether they have set a release date for Halo 5? If they started on it in November last year, do you think they will have it out by this November?

prob not, it'll more or likely be with the next gen xbox plus don't forget 343 is still kinda new to this so it might take them a bit longer (not that that's a bad thing haha) Also about halo 6 being the last halo....that's what they said about 3 yet here we are. Money is a great thing.

Ah, it makes sense that they'd wait for the next xbox for it. This will give them a little extra time to (hopefully) make the game extra awesome.

I heard a long time ago (a while before Halo 3 was released) that there were several more games to come in the main series. Of course there are the "spin-offs" like Halo Wars and Reach, but I don't think that's what they were talking about. My friend was telling me that they were going to tie them into the books, but I suppose it depends on the developers' decisions.
