Rock Band and Dance Central studio Harmonix cancelled an "unannounced Xbox One Kinect title", according to the CV of a senior level designer at the studio. Uncovered by internet sleuth Superannuation (writing for Kotaku) the CV doesn't offer any details on the title other than it "was eventually cancelled".

In June 2012, Harmonix confirmed that it was working on "three and/or more" original IPs. John Drake, director of communications and brand management at Harmonix, said at the time: "Some of them are music games. Some of them are not full-on rhythm action games."

While I personally am not big on rhythm games, it is still disappointing to see Xbox One games cancelled during a time when the game library is still very limited. I'm sure Harmonix will have plenty of releases on all consoles, but sadly we may never know what game was cancelled.

I'm not particually interested in Kinect games, but I honestly thought Harmonix went out of business, so that's good news for me.

I loved Rock Band and Guitar Hero 1 and 2, so I know these guys are capable developers. I miss the good old days of playing Guitar Hero in the living room.

They were actually at E3 and showed off Fantasia for the Xbox One.

I guess developers just want to play it safe. Releasing a new IP is considered too risky for the gaming market but it's on the Xbox One so a new IP is certainly the best approach. Too bad, they didn't continue with it for whatever reason.

Well, not really saddened by this since I'm not yet an owner of any Xbox console with Kinect. But yeah, it is a bit sad to see another potential Xbox One game cancelled. Well, maybe Harmonix still has something in the works for the Xbox One. We'll just have to wait.

Awww. I was hoping to see what kind of game this was.... oh well. That's another unannounced Xbox One game down the drain. Well, let's see what Harmonix has. Maybe another Xbox One game is among those original IPs they're making.
