Has it ever amazed you how irresponsible some people are with their X-BOX consoles? And that leads to them getting damaged? I once knew a guy who left his console out by an open window very often than not. Winter obviously is fine, but even during the Spring and Summer months! Well needless to say, one day, during a rainstorm, it got soaked when the rain beating down came through the window in droplet after droplet. I'd never leave anything of mine with value next to an open window. Much less a game console.

As a matter of fact, I do know a few people who just abuse their consoles and it really pisses me off. A friend of mine used to leave his Xbox on in a really small, non ventilated corner for hours on end. I'd visit his house, we'd play a few games, and then I'd leave. I wouldn't come back over for months at a time and when I noticed it was still on, I'd ask "When's the last time you played the 360?" and he'd always reply "Not since you were over last." It's no surprise he ended up getting the Red Ring of Death.

Well I'm guilty of this myself. I do not own an Xbox but my sister does. I own a PS3 instead. It is actually the second PS3 because I broke the first. Basically what happened was the PS3 stopped reading games, to cut this short I took off the front cover, dived into the Blu-Ray compartment and accidentally snapped an extremely thin cable in there. I as basically trying to get to the lens so I could give it a wipe (as that's what I thought would be the problem). I then went and accidentally snapped a second cable, and basically the whole console was toast. The reason I went to try and fix things myself was because the warranty was out. That console got thrown out. Word of warning: never open up your console if A. you are drunk and B. you don't actually know what you are doing.

Maybe i am just too careful with my electronics, but every time i use something from someone else, it looks like they buy all their things like apples. Once i saw a DS that looked like it went to war and back, and it still managed to work, the poor thing.

I have never seen any other irresponsible console owners under my age bracket, but my neighbors parents sometimes borrows my controllers for their 8 and 12 year old kids til they get a new one.
I have even let them play in my house and I have seen the way they play. Verbally, oh they do need some counselling and their actions sometimes turn violent. I just dont know how to approach their parents.

I know one guy that used his 360 as a coaster for his drink. He would be playing and have his snacks on it. One day he put his ice old sprite on it. The 360 shut off and it apparently water was dripping into the smalls holes.

He still couldn't believe how it could have happened.

WHAT!!! What a fool! Take X-box 360 out of the equation for a second and realize you never sit anything wet on an electronic or electrical device! And here I am worried that sometimes when I am cleaning my house, and I swing my hand too wildly and it has a drop or two of mop bucket water on it? I worry that those few drops might've landed on my computer monitor or my X-BOX. WOW. Maybe I'M the crazy one eh? :p

Yeah kids don't know the value of jack at that age. If I were you, I'd just buy them some controllers so your controllers don't have the take the hit when Junior loses his temper or goes into a rage about losing on level 4.

Keeping the console running when it's not in use is a big NO-NO! People have told me they do this with computers. Leaving them running while they're asleep, out of the office, or just not using them. I don't do this with anything. Computer or X-BOX. Not only does it make your bill high as hell, but it will cause the equipment longevity to take a major hit.

I think that's their problem, really. I take very good care of my things, and my Xbox is no exception. I paid a lot of money for it, and I'm not going to throw that away by being careless. The worst thing that's ever happened to my Xbox is that it got dusty, but I clean it off periodically.

Yeah I have and its pretty sad to say the least. These consoles are very expensive and for a person to just have it damaged it dumb. But hey if they brought the console with their own money and they want to act that way, its their problem.

Well, I take really good care of my console, but my controller and headsets, definitely not.

For the Xbox 360 I have owned a total of 12 headsets. To be fair, most of them were Tritons which are famous for breaking very easily. However, that doesn't make the situation any better. I've had several friends actually get frustrated when I take off my headset because I'm so rough with it. I don't know, it's just how I take my headsets off.

My controllers on the other hand are just really annoying. It has been my fault when I broke a controller once, the other six times they just break for no reason. I swear I honestly do nothing to them, but a button always ends up breaking after a year for no reason. I don't get angry when I play a games and I don't throw my controller. I really have no idea what the problem is.

I tend to be very careful with any of my electronics, computers, consoles, phones, whatever. Accessories as well.
I always have my own specific controller too because I don't like anyone using mine since they all seem to treat the
other ones like crap and never clean them.. food all over it.. yeah.
My sister's xbox is caked with dust, it's the MW3 version too! Every time I see it, I feel a little sad about it. I used to
smoke, inside at that, and used to have to dust mine off every few days because of it, but these people don't smoke,
they just let it sit there and collect dust.
When I asked about it, they said that they would just get a new one if it killed it.
Oh well.

When it comes to my electronics I tend to be very protective. When something does happen like I drop my phone or my Xbox remote falls off my bed I freak out. If there's a scratch I get upset for a few hours until I forget about it. With my Xbox I am the same way. My father likes to put stuff that he thinks belongs to me in my room. I will come in to my room to and see that he has placed something on top of my Kinect. That really bothers me when he does it. I know he doesn't realize what he's doing but it still bothers me nevertheless. My old Xbox 360 remote is in shambles since I use it so much and I do have an unused one sitting on top of my Xbox but I can't bring myself to break in the new one. It just feels so beautiful when I touch it and it feels brand new.
