Even if the Guitar Hero franchise was more saturated than Call of Duty and EA Sports games, I enjoyed it quite a lot, and frequent releases meant tons of content (even though Rock Band's focus on DLC was perhaps a better idea, more games also meant more features, newer peripherals, more achievements, etc). I wouldn't have minded it if they slowed down and focused more on individual titles, but to just cease the series altogether made me a bit sad. I feel hypocritical, because I've said that stagnation of a series isn't a good thing, but Guitar Hero was always a guilty pleasure for me. Who knows, maybe they'll revive the IP someday, but until then, I'll pick up my plastic instruments now and then and play the classics.

It was too many of those games and all of them started to become the same I didn't even release they stop making them. It was cool after 2 but then it just became watered down to the point I didn't want anything to do with a game guitar.LOL

You're right, and as I said, Rockband's focus on DLC was a better idea. However, it just sucks that they just retired the series altogether.

One of my very first games was Guitar Hero. I was actually very devastated when I heard that the company wouldn't be releasing any more games. What made me really angry was the fact that people kept dissing the game series, saying that Rockband was better. It's an irritating to hear about a game that you grew up on.

I am sad that DJ Hero died along with it, there were only 2 DJ Hero games...

I was sad to see it retired too. I loved Guitar Hero! I rocked out with my nephew and young cousins. It is a shame that the series was retired! I will continue to rock out (missing many notes) with my older versions!

I just want more drumming! I never got too into the guitar aspect of the games, it seemed too far removed from actual guitar playing, but the drumming to me is more real-life-applicable. I pretty much only ever bought these games to play the drums with, and I still want more too! I would love more ability to pick and choose songs. I'm sure they'll be revived somehow, when the right time comes along.

They created too many too fast. People get bored of playing the same game over and over and over again. Forza is jumping on the bandwagon with this and NFS has been on it for a while, MW 2012 was ... well... meh. I don't have very high hopes for Rivals except the fact that they are bringing back the Ferraris in NFS.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised the "Call of Duty fad" isn't over soon. They release a new one every year where they give you new maps, change the names on the guns, and rename the perks. Anyone can see that the last "original" Call of Duty was MW2. It took a lot from CoD4, but was enough of a change to deserve a new title.Anything past that I can't say the same about.

I agree. They oversaturated the market with the games, both with Guitar Hero and Rockband. I used to love having Rockband nights, even though I started on Guitar Hero. The DLC was just too convenient. We actually did the endless playlist after getting home from the bar one St. Patty's Day afternoon a few years back. Aaah, good times!
