Last night when I got home with my Xbox One, I was soooooo happy. Got everything hooked up, put the batteries in my controller and went to go turn on my controller and..............nothing??? I spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out why it would not work. I about threw the controller. My girlfriend sees my frustration and comes to my aid. She says did you put the batteries in right. I was like of course I did, I'm not an idiot, I have both flat ends on the same side and both pointy ends on the other. There was a long pause and then a lot of laughter. Turns out I was so happy about my Xbox One that I didn't realize that the batteries had to be opposite of each other. I have not heard the end of this yet. Turns out.....I'm an idiot...lol. :/

lol, glad you got it figured out. That would have not been good if you ended up with a bricked system.

Almost same thing happened to me when I got my 360! Tried to turn it on but the controllers were not synced up so the only way was to do it by pressing the button on the system... Took me 20 minutes to figure it out!

sorta same deal with me.. i put my batteries in... than was like why am i doing this i have a charging cable and charging kit(battery pack thing) so yea i was like hummm how does this fit.. after feeling like an idiot for ohh 3 minutes i got the instructions out... needless to say a 6yr old could have done it. lets just say the shinny connector piece slides on the other connector... with xbox facing you lol.. i felt like an idiot s well.

When i worked in retail, i had to put batteries into some products, and even if it was the same product over and over again, i would look at the graphic and see how to put the batteries, because that is something that you really don't want to do.
At least you didn't throw the controller!

i could see myself doing this. bad thing is in MOST cases instead of laughing it off id stay mad hahaha

Don't feel too bad - this was apparently a common enough issue for the Wii. Apparently, it is just stupendously simple to accidently put the batteries in wrong. Besides which now you guys have a joke - and every couple needs a Brick joke.

Wow dood. I really thought you lost it there but I'm glad you were able to figure it out. Yup, there are times we get something so awesome, then we suddenly see that it isn't working as we thought it would, then we're about to go ballistic, and then somebody will point out to us what's really wrong and... we just laugh it off :) Don't worry my friend, some of us have been there. I'll make sure to check that the batteries are nicely put in place when I get my Xbox One in the near future.

Something like that happened to me while building my PC. I forgot to flip the switch on the back of the PSU and spent an shamefully large time cursing how I had wasted $1500. XD

Got the same issue when I first had my Xbox360. I placed the batteries on the wrong sides. I even called my friend over to check why the controllers aren't working. We had a great laugh. Well I'm looking forward to getting XboxOne maybe by christmas. Hopefully the price would go down.

Your not the only one! From a quick glance they looked like they should go in like you said. I finally got out a flashlight as my room is dimly lit and
I saw the - and + signs for how the batteries should go.
