I usually play on normal difficulty, and I've gotten pretty good at Halo games in the past. The first time I played Halo 3 was with a group of people in my dorm, and even though I had only played Halo 2 before, I had played for so long that my skills generally transferred to Halo 3. Anyway, when I started playing Halo 4 I immediately noticed a spike in the difficulty on the default setting. I know that it's a different studio, but is it supposed to be that way? I remember playing Halo 2 on legendary and getting absolutely destroyed, and at certain points in Halo 4 I'm starting to have some vivid flashbacks...

Are you referring to Campaign? If so I don't think its harder I think the sandbox is a lot more linear which makes each encounter a one way street as opposed to older Halo's. The Knights are just bullet sponges that run away :rolleyes.:The Suppressor tears their shield apart though. Overall, I think the design of the game was bad but maybe a limitation of the hardware.

People actually play campaign? Hmm, I had no idea. the campaign isn't really too difficult for me. Sometimes stuff happens and you have to retry a few times so things in the game can kind of give you the luck you need. If anything I found myself running out of ammo by playing the campaign passively.

I've beaten all Halo games on Legendary. This game is in the upper tier in terms of difficulty for sure. In my opinion, the order of difficulty in the campaigns goes:

Halo 2 > Halo 1 > Halo 4 > Reach > 3 > ODST

You said you started on Halo 3, so that probably explains it. The past 3 games have been ridiculously easy. Halo 4 is not an easy game, especially due to the lack of plasma pistols so you can't noob combo enemies. Forerunner is the hardest level.
