It is included in the price and this why I wouldn't buy an Xbox One. What do you think? Is it good enough or is even worth the money at all?

Absolutely. I honestly wouldn't enjoy the Xbox as much as I do if it weren't for the Kinect. It's funny, someone tried telling me the Wii is better than the Kinect, it's not even a comparison!

That's true. You cannot compare the Wii and Kinect because they're really NOT a comparison. The Kinect detects your movement by the camera, without using any controllers while the Wii uses the IR emitter to detect the Wiimote and nunchuk. So no, you cannot say Wii is better cuz they're not the same thing. Although you have to admit, the Wii came first BEFORE Kinect so could be MSFT took some notes about the Wii and made what we know as the Kinect.

Unfortunately, I don't have such a big room, which means that I can't actually use the kinect at its maximum 'potential'. I also think it's a waste of money.

Worth the buy?

The Kinect comes free with the Xbox One system. You do not have to pay for it. You get the the Xbox One, the Kinect, and Titanfall for only $449.

Where are you getting you information?

I feel a better question would be, "Is it worth spending an extra 100.00 for XB1 over the PS4 to get Kinect as a pack-in?" I can see the ultimate potential of Kinect, however, I don't think it has shown its worth right now. Being able to control your TV, cable box, XB1, etc. without a controller is great, but Kinect has so many limitations (i.e.: needing a fairly quiet background to operate, still requiring ample space for the camera, not recognizing commands). In time, I think Microsoft will work out these issues and it will be a great accessory, but for now, I'm not impressed.

The kinect didnt pick up with the xbox 360 because it didnt have a large enough install base. Now with every xbox one coming with an kinect, developers will implement more and more kinect based features, even in cross platform games.

I really enjoy the Kinect. As with any gaming system, you have to like the games that you play. I enjoy it a lot because I just love the idea of partially controlling my character with actual movements.

Thanks, Sherlock. You have managed to realize what I wanted to ask in the first place. However, I've tried the Kinect now and it seems like a very fun device.

Anytime! Let me know if I can assist in the future. Just my take on how I feel about Kinect... Glad you have your own opinion.

When it came to Kinect 360 and the Wiimote they were definitely two different animals...that did the same thing basically. While you can't compare them on how they go about doing what they do, you can compare them on the end result and the Wiimote did motion better that Kinect most of the time mainly because the Wii and the Wiimote were built more for active gaming and motion but could do sedentary gaming whereas the 360's focus was sedentary gaming but was able to do motion gaming...hence the Wiimote coming with the console and Kinect being optional (and for good reason).

With the X1 Kinect it's coming along whether you want it to or not...like uninvited family members. Right now it's harder to say if it's worth it overall since Microsoft has to have a sizable library of desirable titles to warrant Kinect coming along. Being able to do a bunch of cool, non-gaming/vaguely related to gaming related stuff isn't enough to warrant it.

In the end if Kinect has say 60-70 titles for it and only 1/4 or less of them are worth anything then no, it wasn't worth it and it's time to hang it up on the Kinect front for the following Xbox--if there is one. If half are worth having in your library or worth playing I say let it ride and try to do even better for the next Kinect.

Pretty much what MetalSwift said. The Kinect needs a good roster of titles behind it since Microsoft just had to bundle it with the X1. There can't be the same "Well it didn't work that time, let's try again" attitude that Xbox 360's Kinect had because that one wasn't required.

To answer the OP's question, at this point in time not worth the buy. I have an Xbox One, but on the total "Xbox Game Time Scale" between the two consoles it's 95% 360. I didn't say 99.5% because that sounds too extreme.

It's a fun thing to do, especially with friends or family. However, when the Virtual Reality devices will be launched, I'll throw that away in exchange of FEELING the game and seeing the immerse Universe around me.

This probably still depends on the game. But yes the tech is really good.
