Xbox 360 Is the Sawed-Off really that bad?

I haven't been involved in discussion about this game for a while, but I recall a lot of hoopla about the Sawed-Off Shotgun being overpowered, even after it was supposedly nerfed. Personally, I never had much of a problem with it, and I died to the Gnasher much more often. Gears has always been dominantly a shotgun game, so I have no qualms with them being the most-used weapon, and I don't find the Sawed-Off to be overpowered.
