I'm glad the game had a pretty good storyline and really emotional set-ups (wandering through the desert after your godfather's injury), because I didn't have any issues with keeping promises or doing the right thing - I invested in real estate as soon as possible and soon enough owned the entire kingdom. That meant I could basically ignore what's his face over and over and over and over again without the slightest hitch. Of course, after I had done the right thing I needed to lower taxes so people would like me more, but overall it was a really simple thing to do - but then I seldom play linearly if I don't have to.

that is pretty much how i have played..
i first started wanting to buy a few shops and played the pie maker game for hours till i could afford the 2 shops.. once i realized i could make money every 5 minutes my strategy was to buy up as much as possible in one area(this was early in game)

once i owned a full area it was on like donkey kong. i started making money like crazy and was playing the game at the same time. this was all before i became king.

now that i am king and my bank is about full up and i continue to make money. i have yet to really play now that i am king.

My stragety was to run missions until it got to a turning point and then go make extra funds by working or trying for achievements or go exploring. In that way I managed to gain enough funds to purchase small places. Once those started turning a profit I started buying larger places. After a time I was able to buy everything in the kingdom. At that point I was free to raise or lower rent as I needed in order to meet my needs. It took barely any time to get this done so yeah... I'm not sure how anyone had any sort of dilemma.

Call me a weasel, but I used the player 2 duplication trick to make my fortune at first. Then I just bought the planet like everyone else, and played the game naturally from then on. With so much liquid capital it was easy to make policies the people loved you for and still have enough to save the kingdom.

Being the good guy was alright. That's the path I took the first time I played. I decided to buy up the entire kingdom early on in the game so I could save the people while keeping all my promises. Instead of looking up the pros and cons of playing the evil side as king/queen I decided to replay story mode, this time making only bad choices/decisions. Breaking all the promises I had made was quite interesting to say the least. Reactions from the in-game characters were quite hilarious to say the least. Plus, it made me feel just a tiny bit evil. :p My favorite parts of playing as an evil queen was when I had to choose making children go to work or not, and whether to turn the orphanage into a brothel or reopen it as an orphanage.

I don't mind being the "evil" guy, but it just wasn't... important I guess in this game. Like in Fallout 3 it was so completely easy and profitable to be an evil monster. I mean being good just wasn't any fun and being neutral was just kind of blah. I still did it for the achievement, but honestly. Besides which I saved all my evil ambitions for multiplayer.
