Picked this game up and started playing it today, and I can't believe I put it off for so long. It's been one of those "I'll get around to playing it eventually" games in my library since it came out. I played the first two levels, and then shelved it (this happens far too often).
I really delved into today (just finished the Seaside Cliff Zone), and I'm incredibly impressed. For those who don't know, Sonic Generations takes you through the different eras of Sonic, (Genesis, Dreamcast, "Modern"), and includes three zones from each era. Unfortunately, each zone only contains 2 levels, one that plays like classic side scrolling Sonic, and one that plays like modern 3D "boost heavy" Sonic.
However, after completing the basic levels of an era, you unlock a plethora of challenges for each level (sometimes they are their own little level themselves). There's also 10 secret red rings to collect in each zone (encouraging you to explore the many different paths in each level, and a bunch of unlockable skills to equip on your Sonics.
Overall, the game is awesome, fluid, and a great throwback to Sonic of eras gone by. It's great to play the City Escape level from Sonic Adventure, and play the original Green Hill Zone in high def and brand new graphics.
I definitely recommend it to casual Sonic fans and hardcore fans alike. It truly doesn't disappoint.
That, and the achievements aren't too hard either.
So, for those who have played it, what do you think? Do you prefer playing the "Act 1" Sonic levels, or the "Act 2" levels more? Who was your favorite rival battle?
