Wonder what the deal is behind this? Capcom announced that all Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Marvel vs Capcom 2 are being pulled for purchase in the next week or so from the PSN and Xbox Live marketplace. Strange this is that they didn't give any sort of an explanation for pulling the titles.

DLC packs will be available on PSN for both games until December 17 in North America and December 19 in Europe. Xbox 360 will host downloadable extras until Boxing Day.

Capcom is currently selling DLC for the titles at half price on PSN, and has confirmed plans to hold an Xbox Live sale soon.

Anyone want to guess as to what the reason behind pulling these titles might be? C'mon, lets me a game out of this...Let's see if someone can guess the correct reason why Capcom is pulling the titles. The first correct guess might just win something!

They probably had an exclusive deal and their contract is up. It probably wasn't renewed for the new year and so they are pulling the plug on the deal. Annoying for gamers, but they're only interested in filling their banks.

Such disparity between rivaling franchises and their respective companies is not a rare sight to see, especially when it comes to licensing and royalty issues. This is why we rarely see collaborations between them, but most of the time, when they do come together, they seem to work out well. Still, the pull was rather sudden. It could have come about for any number of reasons, but the simplest one may be that it is just Capcom being Capcom, and may not actually be that much of a surprise to some people.

I agree. And also Nymph. Licensing issues is always the culprit. *Sigh* that, or they're about to announce Marvel VS Capcom 4. Who knows... with the next-gen becoming current-gen already, they may have something up for the gamers. But if what those news says is true, that Capcom has lesser money than other companies, well, they're probably just wanting to fill up more money as you say.,

I'm going to pick...potential sequel and some sort of special edition with music CD, figurine, comic/manga, etc. for MvC3 in the future.

I'm calling on the sequel. There's going to be, I know it. With the next-gen already here, I'm sure they've had it under wrap and now they're waiting to unveil the game. We just don't know when yet. If not, then the license is done. No more.

Same here. A sequel is in order. It might be too early to say but c'mon, a sequel is going to be awesome for the next-gen. Ohhh I can see it now: Marvel VS Capcom 4 on the Xbox One and PS4. Priceless indeed.

maybe now that disney owns marvel that has something to do with it? a little late I know but it does seem really weird. Whatever though I grabbed all costumes/dlc and MvC3 for like 12 bucks...I'm ok with that so long as the servers don't get affected.

i'm glad I already own copies of both!

The fact that it's "next-gen" now doesn't matter since MvC4 would be extremely similar to MvC3 give or take new characters. It's not like they're going to announce MvC4 EX and MvC4 EX Plus Dino Crisis where's it's in 3D and Dino Crisis is included.

I wish Dino Crisis was added. I'd actually buy a Capcom game that wasn't Breath of Fire, Mega Man, or a side scroller.

Of course you would. Even though it would be a franchise that was already visited before, it would be 90% different from what Capcom sticks to now. Maybe lower than that if you're talking Dino Crisis (which is RE with dinosaurs) and Onimusha (which is RE with swords and in a different period).

Capcom's hasn't been giving some of those stellar quality games these last few years. Now it's becoming a rehash these years. MVC3, I like but then, ugh... And Street Fighter IV? Well, I do have it as a PS PLUS game (The Super Edition) and I've only played it a few times in the arcade and I never played the previous games before so it's fine with me. Other than that... *sigh*. Nothing much from Capcom.

Maybe it's licensing issues? Despite how awesome it is to see these characters cross-over, we all have to realize they have licenses with them, so sometimes, companies like Capcom will have the license expire. So yes, we won't have the goodness last longer.

We'll just wait and see what Capcom has. But judging from what we've heard about their bank balance, it's already clear they're losing some money already. And it sucks the way they deal with DLC. Its just distasteful./

I hadn't even thought of the licensing issue--especially since Capcom had been dealing with Marvel for fighters since the early-mid 90s and later on TCGs on handheld. I always gathered it was one of those long, multi-year deals since it's not something that really benefits the Marvel side much over a long period. Sure they'll get paid for Capcom using the characters, but I don't believe that they're bringing in any new readers/subscribers to their titles who aren't already reading them now whereas Capcom will constantly have people jump in on a new MvC.

Most companies are in rehash mode for their series. With the consoles becoming more advanced and it taking more time between the last game to put a new one, they're mainly sticking to this small roster of what they know will sale. In the 90s, you'd see a company develop several titles in a year and publish even more if they were a sizable publisher.

Then again with Capcom during that time, it was "How many Street Fighter II games do you think we can put out before we have to do Street Fighter III?" You'd think with DLC being a huge thing in the late 2000s to now, they'd thrown that concept out the window--since all they really do each edition is add more characters/costumes that could've been DLC to begin with--but it wouldn't Capcom if they did.

It truly wouldn't be Capcom-like if they threw out the "enhanced" editions. I wouldn't even recognize Capcom if instead of the Super Edition they released new Rival Schools or Plasma Sword!

I bet there's going to be another variant of both the games. Capcom is going to release Marvel vs Capcom Super Ultimate Championship Edition. We all know how Capcom does things with its fighting games nowadays. They release different versions of the same game with little improvements.

Oh boy... Marvel VS Capcom being the new Street Fighter milking thing? That can happen. Just add 2 new characters and new stages... then pay $15 for upgrade! hahahaha. Capcom always has a knack for that,.

I can see that happening. Or it could just a sequel for the next-gen. Or it could be a port that IS that version that will be released for next-gen and PC. Ogogogogog. Steam users will be thrilled to see another big-time fighter come to the PC, like Injustice.
