So I got this game, like, last Monday? Got it kinda early. Been playing it ever since, however! I just finished my Revengeance difficulty playthrough yesterday and got S Rank on all chapters. Took a while, specially defeating the Chapter 3 boss without taking damage. I also got gold on all the VR Missions (yes, even the hellish VR Mission 18). I have about 35 hours of playtime and I'm gonna start up another playthrough soon, so I can get the two remaining achievements (Most codec conversations and killing all Double Tripods).

The gameplay is super fun, the story is good, the characters are good (Raiden is badass), the graphics are very damn good if you consider that it runs at around 60fps when every other game runs at 30fps.

My only issue is the people that whine about it being short. It's not short. The first playthrough takes around 10 hours. The game's time counter in the results screen does NOT count your total time, JUST the gameplay time. And even then, if you replay chapters it only counts the BEST time you got in each chapter, not all of the replays. I don't really know if the counter in the save selection works the same way or if that one does count cutscenes and codec conversations too. If it only counts gameplay too then that means I did get a far lot more than 35 hours of playtime out of this game.

So yeah, this game is awesome. I say this as both a fan of Metal Gear and of Hack 'n' Slash.

What do you people think about this game?

Fantastic! The length was what everyone was complaining about, which bugged me. If that's the case, I'll probably go out and buy it later today.

Yeah, the complaints have mostly been around the game's length. The thing is that even the save data info only counts actual playtime. My last playthrough was on easy difficulty, really short fights. Lasted 2 hours of actual game time, but it took about 10 hours since I didn't skip any cutscenes and used the codec all the time. The counter is at 39 hours but I probably spent about 50 hours with the game. I just got done getting all the achievements this past weekend.

I would like to comment about people whining that it's short. I agree with the OP, it's definitely not a short game. People don't grasp that you aren't supposed to play this game only once and leave it. The game is designed in a way to be played multiple times, ideally 3 times in order to play Hard, Very Hard, and Revengeance modes. It's also not possible to unlock all the unlockables in one playthrough, so the game actually gets more fun as you play it over. I can confidently say that I enjoyed the game more when I had Raiden maxed out on all attributes in Revengeance mode, compared to the Raiden I played with a quarter of the unlockables in Hard mode.
