Ari Mark, a veteran of AMC Networks and the Sundance Channel, is now the head of unscripted programming at Xbox Entertainment Studios, Microsoft announced today.

While at AMC, Mark developed unscripted shows including Comic Book Men, The Pitch and Talking Dead. Xbox Entertainment Studios announced two unscripted shows last year, one based on the Atari E.T. landfill excavation and a series about soccer called Every Street United.

Seems that Microsoft is truly focusing its sights on continuing to develop its entertainment goals with original content. If the idea pans out it would be great news for the Xbox loaylist, but it's still way too early to tell it the idea will be successful. This will be a huge undertaking in a brand new field for MSFT and there's unfortunately plenty of room for failure. I would imagine with the record break profit just announced, they will be throwing some money at these projects. What do you guys think?

Even though I generally like the idea that Microsoft is turning the Xbox into an all in one entertainment box and I am glad that more talents are on board. At the same time. I'm also wary that the Xbox will stray too far away from its roots and that is gaming. I hope that they'll continue to secure more games as well. I'm okay with their direction as long as they keep gaming as their primary market.

Ohohohoh. An AMC veteran writing for the programming you say? Interesting. I was about to say The Walking Dead but then I forgot the network's already secured it so I'm interested to see what the veteran's got planned. Xbox One's got the Atari ET documentary so let's see what the veteran has planned.

I'm curious what this guy's going to bring for the original programming. I know it won't be all about gaming all the time but considering that he's produced shows like that, Comic Book Men, we might have a documentary or a drama show. We'll see what he's got to offer pretty soon.

Same here. I'm really wondering what the guy's got to offer. Well, whatever it is, I'm sure it's going to be good. I just hope it's not some copycat to The Walking Dead.

All we can do is wait and see what this guy's got for Microsoft. I'm hoping it's really, really good.

True. I am worried that they will focus more on entertainment rather than the true focus of the console which is gaming.

Yeah, you're right. Microsoft said all-in-one but they can't stray way too far from gaming. Would hate to see Xbox One just be about more on the entertainment and not the gaming part.

Yeah, in the first place they made Xbox as a game console. So they should stick to that fact.

Yeah, I agree with Kn1ghtmare on this, it won't be a copycat version.
