Xbox One Microsoft offers $100 Xbox One discount for ditching PS3

Microsoft is offering up to $100 credit towards the purchase of an Xbox One if customers trade in a PS3, according to an advertising material posted online. The advert, which first appeared on gaming forum NeoGAF, states Microsoft stores will "recycle your PS3" and give you "$100 of store credit towards the purchase of an Xbox One".

The advert is reportedly taken from the Microsoft store, which lists a number of terms and conditions. The promotion is valid from January 23 until February 28, and is only available in retail stores across the US and Canada. It is not available online or overseas.

This is definitely an enticing offer for anyone who is still on the fence about picking up an Xbox One. The $100 price tag is definitely more than most retailers are willing to give you for a used PS3. Will this help any of you make a decision and pick up a XB1? Let us know!

Funny that this trade is essentially equated to "trade your PS3 and get a free Kinect on your XB1!". I can see the practicality of trading up in this case, but personally I would stick with the PS3 until I get full mileage out of my games. Interesting competitive offer though.
 
No, thank you. I prefer to just pay for it in full. I still use my PS3 sometimes. I would rather have both game systems. But, I can see how this would be nice for people who plan on not using their PS3 anymore.
 
This honestly looks like a scumbag tactic and reeks of desperation.
 
I think this is entirely too cheap, and If I had an incling to sell my 360, I'd rather do it on Ebay any day, it would be sure to fetch alot more than that, $100 is like a slap in the face as far as I'm concerned.
 
This is really low even for Microsoft. Offering credits to make people let go of the PS3. Isn't this some sort of corrupted practice? Where is the fair competition? The gaming business has become so much like politics.

How is this any different from Gamestop offering $100 for a PS3 when used towards a new console?
 
Will look into this, considering I haven't touched my PS3 in over a year.
 
Hmm. Well as for me I have Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS1,2,3 and 4. If I didn't have Xbox One I would still keep my PS3. I love the games on my PS3. I honestly like it more compared to my PS4. I won't have it exchanged for anything.

Gamestop was offering $100 for a PS3? This is the actual news here to me lol. This is a good promotion though. It's similar to turning in your old phone and getting money back or money towards the phone featured in the promotion, really.
 
It does remind me of the smartphone deal. I won't be participating. I'm quite happy with my PS3.
 
Nope, sorry not taking this deal. I just got my PS3 last September and I'm lovin the console thus far. I'm getting the Xbox One BUT not this way. I don't know, it doesn't really look like a good deal for me. I got a lot to do with the PS3, especially PlayStation Plus so no thanks MSFT, I'm getting the Xbox One another way.
 
Nada. I'm not taking this deal. I plan to get the Xbox One but this deal doesn't entice me to get it this way. I still have a use for my PS3. I don't know, I can agree with thedoodseven... something about this deal doesn't really give me good vibes. Just my opinion. Anyway, if there are anybody out there who likes this, go ahead. But it's not my type of deal.

I love my PS3 as well. Sorry MSFT but the deal is not for me. I'm not yet considering getting an Xbox One and if I did, this is not the deal for me. I'll just work my way to get it but to trade off a system I'm still having fun with? Sorry, not for me.
 
Actually Microsoft is offering $100 for both Xbox 360 and PS3 trade-ins as a part of its recycle program. It's being blown a bit because of sites' selective reporting of focusing on Microsoft accepting PS3 trade-ins and not the entire news. It's only low when Microsoft is only accepting PS3 trade-ins so I take back my initial comment.
 
PS3 is still gonna be with me no matter what. There's still so much to play with the PS3. Nah, not my deal at all. Doesn't entice me to get the Xbox One this way.

Same here. I love my PS3. That's why I'm still using it even if I have my Xbox One. This is staying with me.
