Xbox One MKV playback support could be coming to Xbox One.

According to majornelson.com MKV format support is coming soon with a bunch of other formats included. Pretty awesome since MKV is already the standard format for video files nowadays. It's great that Microsoft are listening to their fans now and actually implementing things that consumers want.

Its ridiculous, tis should have been the case from the get go, MKV is a really high quality,... yet really compressed format, Sony enabled most video formats including FLV and MKV out of the box...

What are you talking about? The only format that the PS4 plays now is MP4, it can't even play MP3 files. Sony only announced not long ago that MP3 support is coming in the near future. Even 3D playback came to the Xbox One first followed shortly by the PS4.
