Some games have really tugged at my heartstrings.

And I will admit it, I have cried before at the end of a game or at a part where the emotional tension becomes very high. I am a huge softie, pretty much no matter what the game may actually be. It's probably a bit of a problem. :P But either way, I know I'm not the only one, I'd think.

Let's just say The Walking Dead and leave it at that...

Seriously, man. That game... daaang...

I can't recall ever really getting emotional from a game, aside from when the first Metal Gear Solid ended. I loved it so much that I was really sad that it had ended...

Yeh i agree the walking dead.

I kinda was a bit sad when that guy you had just met dies like when he gets trapped under tractor#

:(

I have cried a bit when I lost in a FIFA tournament. I was so close to winning a huge amount of money, and I lost in penalty shots. The reason being is that I bet about $50 on an online gambling game for FIFA 12 on Virgin Gaming. I suggest giving it a try, see if you like it.

I agree with you as I used to play it for hockey, if you're into sports games it's great but (I haven't checked lately) their competitive games list is rather small.

Also though I never got emotional at a game
walking dead did nothing and Last of Us was a "damn that sucks" but otherwise nothing
I cried like a baby when my parents sold my genesis at a garage sale when I was like 7

Nier.
Goddammit i... even thinking about it makes me depressed. It has like 5 endings and each and every one of them is just worse than the last one. And that music, orchestrated music hits me like a truck when it comes to emotional scenes.

...all they wanted was peace, why did all of that had to happen.

Red Dead Redemption.

If anyone has played Red Dead Redemption all the way through, you'll know what I'm talking about. The ending to the game left me with so many emotions! I was enraged and sad at the same time, and the justice to those actions felt so good! If you don't know what I'm talking about you need to go play Red Dead Redemption!

You poor, poor thing... I don't know who wouldn't have cried... I know I get upset anytime I can't get my NES to work, but usually I can get it to.
I know I got upset when I realized I was missing a cord for my SNES...

Game-wise,I can't think of one right off that I got "emotional" over.

I second this, The Walking Dead ending was pretty emotional. I teared a bit, I have to admit, and it was really sad. I hope the next season of Walking Dead is better and lets us play as Clem or one of the survivors that knew Clem.

Man, I bet my reaction to Nier will be similar. All I really know about it is that it's set after one of Drakengard's endings and is by the same developer... and Drakengard was really messed up!

I have never been emotional sad while playing a game as of yet. I hear a lot about Walking Dead. Might need to try that game if it has such an emotional storyline.

There's some good answers in here already. The first emotional experience I had to a game was probably Final Fantasy IX or Breath of Fire 3. Both are RPGs and both have a story that engulfed me. I can't remember which I played first, but I would definitely play them both again in my nonexistant free time. I can't remember any games before that coming close. Since then I've found a lot of games that have made me feel for the story or the characters in it. I could sit and talk about playing through FF X and Kingdom Hearts and FF XIII-2 for the 360.

There's no two ways around it, games have become much better at creating emotional responses in their players. Because of that, there will be a lot of remake and extreme super hardcore editions in the future. However, its important to hold onto the original game and how you felt about it the first time you witnessed a story unfolding.

I can't say that I've had a legit emotional experience playing a game, except that the music in Halo and Force Unleashed seriously depressed me at times. I can understand finishing a storyline evoking emotion though. That's the same way I feel whenever I finish a book series, or complete a tv series in two weeks on Netflix. You feel rather empty when it's over.

The ending of Final Fantasy X got me. Even if Tidus was annoying, it got to me to see him disappear, and it sets the stage for X-2 quite well. Speaking of X-2, I used to knock it, but it's grown on me over time; it's still too upbeat and girly, but it definitely has redeeming factors.

Man, you definitely need to give that one a shot. That game is full of tragedy and misery.

Speaking of game scores, ( the music, not number score ) since most games based on movies carry the movie score over into the game, whenever I played any of the Lego games based on movies, it would tug at my nostalgia heart strings. Lego Batman, Lego Star Wars, even Harry Potter once it was over.

What about Bastion? The storytelling that game was just phenomenal, the narrator was very emotional and the whole story just fit together so well. By the end of it I really felt part of the story. I won't spoil the ending but you have to make a decision between two choices, and neither are very good, so whatever you do it will be a dick move in some way. That game really gets you thinking.

The ending of Kingdom Hearts 1 was definitely pretty emotional for me. I won't state all the details of it, but it's an eye opening experience when the character you're playing as sets out on a journey traveling through worlds, only to have the thing he set out to find and save, slip away right in front of him. To be honest, the entire Kingdom Hearts series is full of moments like this.

Skyrim. Killing Paarthurnax was probably the most emotional I have ever gotten in a game.
