BioWare's next Mass Effect game is in a playable state and coming along nicely, according to BioWare's Edmonton and Montreal general manager Aaryn Flynn.

The developer posted tantalizing Twitter messages after an internal play test on Wednesday, offering words of encouraging praise for the much anticipated sequel.

"Great time playing the next Mass Effect game in Montreal," said Flynn. "Ambitious. Beautiful. Fresh but recognizable. And fun," he added.

Nothing more was shared than an off-screen shot of the BioWare logo.

I don't know how you guys feel about the series, but I can NEVER have too much Mass Effect. I'm glad they're leaving the Shepard story line and moving in a new direction. How do you guys feel about the change?

As long as it's not as bad as the 3rd game, I'll definitely buy this game.
I want more of Mass Effect the RPG, not Mass Effect the TPS.

Totally agree with this. I'm interested in the game because it's Mass Effect, but I want it to lean more towards RPG this time. It's something with Bioware games to start out as a linear RPG and move away from that in the sequels. No actual reason either, just change stuff up.

I also hope that like Inquisition, it's much less linear.

I'm excited about a new Mass Effect. I'm sure we all want something more expansive that allows you to actually explore the universe and all of that. I must admit, though, it could be boring speeding through space and it's mostly...darkness and the planet chilling in background.

I don't know, having invested so much emotionally on Shepard and his crew, I'm not sure if I'm ready for another character and relationship. Seems like all my previous efforts come to waste if I start another Mass Effect story. I'll still get nontheless because I love Bioware's games.

I don't know what to say. Well I've played mass effect before. It didn't have that much of an impact on me. But well, it was enjoyable. I just hope that they have more to offer in this new game.

I've yet to play the Mass Effect games (I got 2 in Origin, but I'm thinking of buying it in trilogy form 'cuz c'mon, it's got almost all the DLC!) but if what the developers say is true, then it's almost like making a Mass Effect that is not only a spin-off but also something that can appeal to both old and new fans alike. So even if I never get to play the ME games by the time this one rolls out, I can still rock it out. Well, sweet then!

Have yet to play the ME games so it might actually be good for me to start here. But I'm sure some of you will tell me, "No man! Play the first ME games!!!!!" Well, we'll see what I'll do. I got more games to play you know, so if I have enough cash, I';ll go ahead and pitch in Mass Effect Trilogy.

I've been playing Mass Effect 2 for some time and yes, I'm enjoying it. But man, didn't think a new one would be coming out soon. Hmmmm... so will I go for the new one or just play with the old one? We'll see when we see more of this new Mass Effect.

I might wait for this new ME. I got way too many games to play now, so it'll be better for me. Not that I hate the old ME series but you know, I like new stuff so this might be a good start for me. We'll see what it's like.,

The original trilogy is my favorite set of 360 games. I highly recommend them.

You cannot go wrong with the original trilogy. I would make time for them.......it is the best story driven series that I have ever played.

Hmmmm... all right then, I'll go ahead and make time to buy the trilogy. I'll just buy it in disc form, since those aren't region-locked for me and I saw them being sold somewhere. A month of work should get me the copies. All right then, time for me to work and get my piece of making my Commander Shepard.

Yep, you're right on that. This is the best Mass Effect soon to be released.

Everybody here sure is all liking the original Mass Effect trilogy. I might just get it too, maybe for the PS3. PC's busted right now so PS3 is all I got to play with.

That's the reason I finally decided to give it a try, people were all "You HAVE TO PLAY THIS GAME!" I enjoyed the first ME, but I have to admit it was a slow crawl for me to enjoy it. I just chalked it up to the game being well paced instead of it just being slow, plus I'm not the biggest fan of sci-fi--which is why I took to Dragon Age Origins so easily, same generally linear gameplay, but it was fantasy which I love.

My young brother got the Trilogy and had a hard time getting into it, but he enjoys JRPGs more than western RPGs on the whole.

The original is the slowest paced on, the 2nd ME is easily the best one with the most amazing final mission and conclusion of last generation, imo
