I'm just wondering, did you buy your Xbox One new or used? I bought mine shortly after it came out, so obviously it was new. I buy most of my game systems brand new because I want them to last.

I got mine brand new. I got it brand new because I want to be sure that if something goes wrong about the console I can have it replaced.

New. I would never mess with used consoles. Who knows what someone might have done to a console. I've heard so many stories about used 360s getting sold only to find out that they had been hacked and the entire unit was banned from Live.

I can attest to that, I bought my PS2 (second hand) from someone not even asking if it had defects. It did last for a month eventually I found out that he had issues with the console on heating. He sold it to me because I didn't ask. I learned my lesson.

It's still fairly early so it's safe to say almost all of us bought the console new. I don't mind getting a console used as long as it's in perfect working conditions. If the previous owner is a friend or has taken very good care of it, I don't see anything wrong with buying used consoles.

Buying used consoles really depends on who owned it before. I have my share of used consoles and I make it a point to check the unit out before totally paying it.

I got mine second hand (well it was only a week old when I got it) in exchange for my old scooter. My friend needed some sort of transportation since he was quite broke because he bought the console without checking his budget. I gave him an extra $100 because the scooter that I exchanged was really really old.

When I was in high school I bought my original Xbox used from Funcoland and while I had no issues with it I would never buy another console used now that I can afford new. Granted every console prior and after the Xbox I purchased was also new. With that said I obviously bought my XB1 new and on launch night. I don't even like buying used games.

I agree, I am not a fan of buying second hand stuff, from clothes to gadgets, because you'll never know what they did to it prior to them selling it.

New. After trading some old stuff at GAME. I usually would buy used but the price difference between used and new wasn't that much.

Same here. I'd rather just buy the whole thing brand new than to take a risk.

They might have done something really weird to it before you got them, something similar to those who sell cheap clothes.

Haha. I remember buying a shirt from a garage sale. I forgot to smell it, I got home and it smells really bad.

Yeah used consoles are a no go for me, I once brought a ps2 that was used from EB games, lets just say i was back there 20 minutes later returning it and brought a brand new one. The console was in such crap condition and even the controllers were absolutely shocking, the analog sticks would spin so whenever i was trying to use them, my thumbs would roll off of them making it almost impossible to play any game.

I agree, who would buy those things if you're really not sure about it.

The window of wait is interesting. I agree that I wouldn't get it used in that time. Within that 2 year period, Microsoft would've likely released a version of Xbox One with no fewer issues while those first few would've been repaired and available for cheaper used. That was the case with Xbox 360 and I got both of mine used (one broke after it fell off the dresser).
