Hey Everyone
Murray here with news that I have my new xbox (well, lightly used xbox) and I'm back in the saddle. I wanted to break this newer Xbox in right and to do that I'm going to pull out Tales and do a completion run on it while working on my Dark Souls run as well. In parallel to what I've been doing on the Dark Souls side of the forum, I'm going to post how to deal with the bosses and things you might miss as I go through this game so that if you do a completion run you'll have some good references.
I'll probably work on a review piece, but I'm thinking about possibly doing a video review, I just don't know if I have the means to capture video or a PC that'll do okay with it.
Anyway, jumping right into the game, I do like this particular title because Tales holds your hands for... a few moments before tossing you into a boss battle. yea, there's no way you could possibly die in this battle unless you went to go get a drink and left things unpaused.
In the mean time I'll offer just a couple of hints to get you started in this game.
1) Explore. Tales is a game where exploration is rewarded by giving you more of the story, you gain a better perspective of the characters and you have a chance to get better items and weapons that will aid you as you go through the world. This game's level of difficulty starts off fairly simple but it rises quickly to a point where if you fail to keep your gear, items and characters up to level then you're going to have a bad time and see the Game Over Screen often.
2) Slow Down... Tales is a fine wine and unlike most games, its okay to spend more time running around the environments and working on leveling up and getting your skills maxed.Remember that this game falls into a JRPG genre so you're going to grind.
3) Stay Calm and think clearly. Puzzles in this game can be draining because monsters will be after you as you're attempting to work them out. Stay calm and think clearly and you'll be okay. Otherwise you'll just get stuck and get pissed and walk away. There's so much to this game a tough puzzle shouldn't ruin the experience for you, but I do know a couple people where it has.
4) The first boss... You're going to face the idiot twins and the first half of the fight is just telling you how to fight. Its time to get use to this battle arena type style. The 3D environment is best to escape situations. This fight is pretty simple. You're going to want to block when they pull off attacks and artes on you. You have your own arte so use it against them. Pretty bare bones honestly which is why I can't make an entire thread about it because its just that simple.
They attack, you block.
You attack, they get mad.
They corner you? Free run away.
Now lets get going!
