Xbox One will be receiving a system update in the next few hours that focuses on addressing certain issues involving the dashboard, notifications, SmartGlass, and matchmaking, Microsoft has announced.

In a post announcing the new update, Major Nelson outlined just what the update will do:

Addresses SmartGlass issues for some users when coming in and out of connected standby
Addresses multiplayer issues for some users when re-joining games
Addresses issues with inconsistent notifications for some users
Addresses dashboard performance for some users
Offers improvements for Xbox One's TV, system update, and content update services for scaling over time
Updated wireless networking driver to improve connectivity issues for some users

The article also when on to note that those with the "Instant On" feature enabled will be first to get the update since it will roll out in waves. Everyone else will received it by Thursday 12/12/13. I for one am very happy to see Microsoft quickly begin to fix the many small issues or bug currently found on the Xbox One. We can only hope they continue to be persistent and hasten.

This is great news! Cant wait to get the update unless i already got it since i have "instant on" enabled so idk if i have got it or not seeing as my xbox is in the other room atm and i cant get on it, got the niece sleeping in there lol..but overall good news

From what I understand if you've had the Xbox on the whole time then you will like need to power down and back on in order for it to actually instal the download. I could be wrong though.

Mine was done and over with within 3 min. Seemms a little smoother than before but it was just a "behind the scenes" update.

How did you know your system updated?

when you start your xbox it goes to a black screen with a lime green bar that grows from left to right as it downloads. if its left in a standby mode you will have to shut down and restart as described to install it. it will sit at the xbox green logo screen for a good few minutes why it installs. in total it took me 5-7 minutes from download to on user interface.

i got my update today... best way to get it is to hold the xbox button and turn off console and reboot from cold. i will say i had no issues with microsoft or smartglass so the update ill not feel any different.. i dont have kinect hoked up or use the tv function.

and suprisingly since i got a new wireless router"e3000 gaming" my stability and loss of connection has gone way down...

I turned it off completely 5 times and still nothing. My 360 though worked the first try with its update tonight.

New firmware is 6.2.10217.0 (xb_rel_launch.131205-2200)

It's rolling out in waves and you don't need to turn it off. Just got mine this morning and I haven't turned it off since launch.

I am in NJ too and mine also happened this morning, around 7-7:15am. I was watching TV and it just went to the update screen.

I did not have much time to fool with anything as I had to leave for work, so not sure what is better/faster or fixed or not.

Exactly the same experience I had. I was watching NFL AM and it went straight to the update. I had to leave to work as well so I can't toy with it until later.

since i dont have kinect or tv on my xb1 i turn it off.. when i turned it on it was 3/4 of the way loaded... it picked up speed quite fast once it was up and running.

it is being released in waves... it will come up. i dont think you will notice any changes it didn't really add anything.

From what I've seen the update is really fast actually and it's good that Microsoft is on top of this. I like a slow rollout of fixes since it's not like the Xbox One is beleagured with issues. Yeah their fixing the problems but I like that their also focusing on some of the cosmetic issues that people are having.

Has anyone noticed much after this update?

None of the things I found wrong before are fixed and Kinect actually seems a little worse.

I haven't noticed any real improvement. Hopefully the next update will have some more readily apparent fixes. I am not having any major issues but I would like to see some tweaks. Kinect is still hit or miss for my family. I can usually get it to work without issues.

no difference on my end... i couldn't tellyou what the fix's are or were. same with bf4 lol.. i have yet to see what the fix has done lol.
