Blogs, magazines and twitter chat has united for awhile that the Kinect is being removed from an XB One Skew. So for those who still want to get the system at a cheaper price, this one is for you. Rumor thread in coming, but mostly true rumors. No Goat Heads popped out of the hard drive slot rumors...unless there's pictures then it definitely happened.

I have already got one with Kinect, but am happy for those who'll have the option to buy it without this pesky thing. I for one have never ever used it.

The majority of people complaining about the kinect are the ones that won't even buy the console regardless of price or SKU.

Not really - there are plenty of people who just want a cheaper console. And if not getting the Kinect means getting that cheaper price then - screw the Kinect. It's not always a Fanboy War or whatever - sometimes people just aren't fond of an add-on. I have the original Kinect and I don't consider it a very good value, so I wouldn't like having to purchase another one even without all the other drama.

I've been saying all along that MS should have the Kinect as optional. I'm glad that they listened to the people and decided to release the X1 without the Kinect. Regardless, I already bought the X1 so it doesn't affect me but it's good news to those that are still on the fence about the price and Kinect.

Good to hear I can buy it with out the Kinect, I have no need or interest in having. Something like that should be optional when you buy a console.

I still don't get why they forced Kinect upon us. They still haven't given us a killer IP to sell the damn thing, and the only worthwhile things that have came out related to it are coming from the homebrew and hacking markets. Microsoft just wants something akin to the wii or the PSEye but they haven't learned to actually make something worthwhile.

Their initial model was to push for motion gaming that's why they included the Kinect as mandatory. I guess their plan didn't work which is why they are switching policies now. It was obvious forcing the Kinect was a mistake, my take now is that Microsoft might be slowly abandoning the Kinect as shown with E3 this year.

Ditching Kinect is a great move imo. Microsoft got too bold this generation and forced many features on their buyers resulting in free customers for Sony. No Kinect means a lower price so console sales will be boosted, hopefully. XBox One is a beast of a machine suffering from poor management, let's hope MS will manage to get things straight.

That's what I mean though. They wanted to make a push for motion gaming, and then...didn't bother to have the software to back that push up.
