Xbox 360 Pigeons - 100% Completion

I've been playing Grand Theft Auto 4 off and on for a while now, trying to get to 100% completion. I'm having a lot of trouble finding all the pigeons you have to kill, though. Has anyone here done this? Is it possible to do without looking up the locations of the pigeons online?

I've yet to find all those pigeons by myself. I don't think it's possible without a map, honestly. I don't know if you ever played Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on Playstation 2, but they had a similar "Find the hidden objects" mission and it was absolutely impossible without a map. Even with a map, some of them were still incredibly hard to find.
