In an article released yesterday found on Sensez (I would post the link but I don't have 25 posts yet :() states that the PlayStation has sold approx 530k units compared to Microsoft's 364k. They attribute this mainly to the price difference, do you all agree? I know the PlayStation is cheaper but doesn't come as equipped...

I guess the price factor would be an issue, I don't know how it compares in other countries but I do know that the PS4 SHOULD be cheaper than the Xbox One. Although it gets tricky when you take into account taxes and different pricing, I know the Xbox One in Brazil is $1000 cheaper than the PS4 or something stupid like that. I don't think it should be an issue for concern for Microsoft either, the Xbox 360 completely outsold the PS4 to begin with at the start of the generation but the PS3 came back strong. I'm sure that scenario can happen again.

I think you also got to take into account how Sony and Microsoft marketed the products too. Sony stayed true to its roots all throughout while Microsoft had to change course when it initially announced the Xbox One. And you also have to remember that in Europe, Sony's leading in the console market, so it's not a surprise Sony leads. USA, the Xbox wins.

It's got a lot to do with marketing too. It may not come as equipped as Xbox One but the PS4 has that appeal that probably got it to sell better than the Xbox One. And like what thedoodseven said, Europe supports Sony a lot, so that's a factor as well.

Playstation has been dominating Europe since the PS3. Europeans for some reason really love the Playstation brand. Sorry to say but Xbox relies solely on the US market, not that it doesn't sell anywhere else but it's just not as popular as Playstation.

Yeah, it's the same as in Asia. For some reason EU and Asian prefer the Playstation though I would say that the Xbox does way better in Europe than it could ever do in Japan. As hard as Microsoft tries the broader Japanese market isn't interested. Still the sale difference between the PS4 and Xbox One aren't that bad.

True. That's why Sony went worldwide (except Japan) 'cuz they know the markets there were in high demand for the PS4. Xbox, well, they're playing it safe. But yes, even with that, it's also in the demand. Europe and Asia are Sony's territory while US is where the Xbox reigns.

Either way, all we need to know is Sony dominates the markets outside the USA. If Microsoft wants to catch up, they'll need to do something. And I've already heard Sony sold more than Microsoft by the end of the year, so let's see what Microsoft has planned.
